A cab driver recommended the Port House for tapas. We arrived with no reservations and a party of six. The maitre d' was masterful at managing the incoming crowd and managed to keep everyone happy and patient. We ate upstairs in a very warm and intimate room. The bar and food service was great. Given the amount of tapas dishes we consumed, I would say the place was a bargain. Especially enjoyed the octopus ( ordered three servings), the papas bravas and the tortilla. Also great olives and albondigas. Definitely a highlight of our Dublin trip.

We chose this place because it looked quite sweet and cosy. On entry, we were told it may take up to 5 minutes before we could order because they were busy which we were fine with. I asked if we could have a drink while we chose and the waitress said no. I wish we'd left at that point.

It took 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order and when she arrived, she had a very rude tone and manner. While we were ordering, she tried to walk off 3 times before we had completed the order, making us feel very unwelcome.

The food took another 35 minutes to arrive. When it did, it was very poor. I used to live in Spain and have eaten at countless tapas/pintxos bars both there and in other countries. This was easily the worst. Most of the food was clearly straight out of the freezer and none of the ingredients tasted fresh.

I wanted to order another glass of wine but was ignored a number of times by the waitress. When we had eaten what we could, we both felt quite ill because it was so greasy.

I couldn't even order the bill to pay because the waitress was ignoring us, so I had to go to the counter and stand there until she paid attention to me. The food was incredibly over-priced for the quality offered. The waitress asked how everything was at our table (too late to do anything about it) and I told her we were disappointed with both the service and the food, to which she indignantly replied "well, I told you we were busy".

All in all, a very disappointing experience and I'll be advising friends to avoid the restaurant.

Thank you for bringing your experience in our restaurant to our attention. Whilst we would have been grateful for this issue to be brought to a Manager's attention on the evening you dined with us we are still very disappointed to receive this. We apologise for the service you received but we can assure you, none of our ingredients are frozen, all of our food is prepared freshly in our restaurant daily.

I came here with some Spanish friends, (the types who know everything is better back home). but there were no complaints here. great selection of tapas, nice wine selection and nice seating, lighting and music.
It is a little expensive for the size of the portions and the paella leaves a lot to be desired but everything else was excellent.

Thank you for posting this review. We are very pleased you and your friends enjoyed dining with us. Majority of our ingredients are sourced directly from Spain to give our customers the true authentic Spanish dish therefore there are additional costs involved. We do believe we are very affordable and inexpensive for the quality of food we deserve. We hope to see you again soon.

Very atmospheric, intimate restaurant with mainly delicious tapas/pintxos! We ordered almost ten different dishes and only one of them was a disappointmet -the mini steak was super chewy, couldn't eat it.
Everyhting else was very good and it's a wonderful place.

Nice tapas restaurant with a wide range of tapas, and lovely sangria. It doesn't take reservations so you just have to hope there's a free table when you arrive. Staff are always very attentive and friendly. Favourite Temple bar restaurant by far!
