We visited this restaurant early on a Friday evening at the beginning of December. Lovely atmosphere for the first couple of hours, great wine list. Food was delicious, but not really tapas in the true sense of the word, dishes came with potatoes and vegetables rather than a whole plate of something. This aside I would visit again but would know better when ordering next time. think it would be great in Summer to sit outside. Staff great, a very loud Xmas Party arrived when we were there and it became impossible to hear or even talk (think they had definitely started early in the day) But is a great place to meet friends for a fun night with good food and wine

We had the gambas , meatballs, calamari and risotto tapas. The pork and beef meatballs were delicious and the Calamari beautifully light. The Catalan blanco white wine was fresh and crisp..not a bad price at €25. The service was attentive and ambience lovely. My only suggestion for the future would be to have the place warmer. We were cold....otherwise a very nice evening.

We went to No.5 back in October after we stumbled upon it whilst exploring near our hotel. Being a Thursday, we were attracted to the 2-1 cocktail menu so we sat in the quirky outside area, that remained warm due to outside heating.

No.5 was very quiet (we were the only 2 people sat outside) which was a shame as the table-topped barrels gave it a fun aesthetic. Our waiter was fantastic; warm and charming, we had his full attention and he gave us great service all night.

The cocktails were so good that we strayed off the 2-1 menu and experimented with as many as we could, with prices still being reasonable. We had planned to just pop in for a few drinks but as we were so comfortable, we didn't want to leave, so we ordered tapas to share.

We chose the Grilled Bread With Dips, Braised Beef Shin & Tallegio Cheese Croquettes and Fried Baby Calamari. Both the Calamari and Croquettes were really delicious and we were very impressed by the quality of both.

We returned again the next night (Friday) and No.5 was now packed and that was fantastic to see. There was live Piano music that was wonderful and we finished our stay in Dublin with a final cocktail each. We would love to one day retur and try more food off the tapas menu as No.5 had great service, food, drink and a cracking atmosphere when busy.

We stumbled upon this lovely place while looking for a restaurant that wasn't packed with people in for the next day's rugby match. We were welcomed out of the cold by a lovely doorman named Frank who showed us his photo book full of pictures of him with celebrities who have visited. We sat at tables by the piano and had the most delectable selection of food. We ordered one of everything on the menu and shared. I can't even pick a favorite because it was all so good! The calamari was tender, the beef was succulent and flavorful, the risotta was creamy...I could go on and on. Nothing we had wasn't perfect. Our bartender was tremendous and you could watch him make drinks for hours! He took great pride in his cocktails and presented them beautifully and with a flourish. Try the Pornstar Martini! It was my favorite. The piano player showed up about an hour after we'd arrived and began playing songs that we knew, so we sang along loudly, harmonizing and clapping! I'm sure the locals wondered who the loud Americans were! We didn't want to leave. If I had to choose my best memory of Dublin, it would be this night, eating amazing food, singing songs and drinking. We truly felt welcomed. Don't miss this place. You'll be glad you went.

You are not going to stumble across Vinoteca. It's at the end of an alleyway, beside the Unicorn restaurant on Merrion Row, between the Shelbourne Hotel and O'Donaghues Pub. But it's well worth seeking out. Great, generous portioned tapas, decent wine, and superb (and strong!) cocktails. Oh, and excellent, friendly, professional service. The seating is a little basic but that's about as much as you could moan about. Last time we were there, there was even a piano player. There's a "patio" "garden" (faux grass carpet and heaters) outside, to which you can retire for cocktails, or just have them at your table. The best bit: my wife bought vouchers on taste.ie - just Euro 50 for 6 tapas and a bottle of house wine. And just Euro 20 for 4 cocktails - we strongly recommend the "pornstar martini" - delish! The food is great. The 1/2 beef fillet is great, the seafood risotto I had the first time we went was the best risotto I've had in many years. (On our 2nd visit, it was disappointingly bland but they swapped in with good grace and no quibble. BTW: The vegetarian risotto was very good on the same visit.). The vouchers include a bottle of house wine between two, but you're welcome to choose another wine and just pay the difference. The staff and friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit!
