“Exceeded expectations - and what a breakfast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2012

Having grown up in Ireland, I have an irrational fear of B&Bs out West, but the Amber Heights is absolutely brilliant.

The welcome is warm, we'd brought our dog as prearranged without any fuss or extra charge, and the decor is about as far from B&B (in my mind) as you could get. Bright, clean, modern.
Our room wasn't yet ready (we were a bit early) but they got in touch with the cleaners to let them know we were there and offered us complimentary, freshly ground coffee while we waited (which was only about 10 minutes).

There were tons of DVDs and a player in the dining room - touches like this really make a difference if you're away from home and there's a high chance of rain.

Yes, it is a bit out from town, but you can stroll down the hill to Salthill on a nice day, or book a cab for a set fare of €8 all the way to the Spanish Arch. That's what we did, although there were buses nearby too.

There's tons of parking and it's on the right side of the city for a quick getaway into Connemara.

Now, the breakfast: I'm an Irish vegan and my husband is an American omnivore. Usually, one of us is disappointed. Not so here: tons of cereal, as well as fresh (you hear that, other breakfast establishments? None of your tinned stuff here) pineapple and melon, soya milk as well as the cow kind, and plenty of bread or toast. And crunchy peanut butter. Heaven. For my husband, there was smoked salmon and cold cuts, or the most enormous fry up I've seen in a long time. The aforementioned dog got some of the leftovers for dinner later, so it's safe to say that our whole party was happy.

We had a fabulous stay and will definitely go back when next in Galway.

Highly recommended bed and breakfast. Only draw back is the location. About 3 miles from Galway city. Taxis were expensive.

We stayed there a couple of the days and we were happy. Not close to the city, about 12-15 min by car as Galway is a very busy city and traffic was bad. Rooms were O.K and breakfast was good. we will be back in the summer of 2012

Pluses: quiet location, off road car-parking, plush rooms, staff, relaxed make youself at home ambience, liked the coffee machine (latte, cappuchino etc.) always available for use by guests, and free internet connection (wi-fi also).
Minus: If you are travelling by public transport and want to be near Galway City Centre or Galway Bay promenade (10 minutes walk away,) there are more conveniently located B&Bs, and you'll save on taxi fares.

All I can do is echo the happy sentiments of other reviewers. Amber Heights is a luxurious B and B which offers outstanding facilities, service, and an especially good cooked breakfast. It also represents excellent value for money.

The rooms are well-decorated and fitted with all the conveniences you could possibly need (flatscreen tvs, free and functioning wifi, modern ensuite bathrooms, etc).

You would be hard pressed to find anything better (certainly not at this price level), which is why I have booked myself in there again.

This B&B is one of the best I've stayed in around the Galway area. Beautiful, spacious room. Comfy bed. Quiet and warm. Breakfast was delicious, to boot. It's a little off the beaten track (approx €10 for a taxi to/from city centre) but for the quality, it's well worth it.

Came across this b and B online , I had a conference in nuig. Once I arrived it's the most professionally run b and B I've stayed in, but I must say I don't stay in too many. The room was hotel standard easily. Proper coffee machine in reception complimentary was much appreciated . Breakfast was efficient and of a good standard. I can highly recommend this spot. Only disadvantage is location. College is a 30 minute walk. City centre 40 walking fast or 8 Euro taxi ride. Really was pleasantly surprised here, flat screen tv. Loads of towels and very clean.
