“not a four star”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2012

Stayed 2 nights June weekend for a wedding. How can a four star not have a/c in the rooms.Everybody in the wedding party had to leave windows open on the Friday night, very uncomfortable in the restaurant trying to eat and even in the corridors, crazy. Ordered a sandwich in the bar at 6.10 cancelled it at 7.50, having being told there was a problem with the printer!!.Went for dinner at 8.30 in a group of 14. Service was non-existant.30 mins for starter to arrive then 45 mins till main course, after that one of the group had to go and ask where the deserts were, then told coffee machine had been turned off and had to wait for someone to bring fresh coffee. Finished meal at 11.45. Ruined the evening for our hosts.Went for breakfast on Sunday, out of some items, others stone cold, on both mornings I was finished my breakfast when the coffee and toast arrived.

Dear ‘nanthegreen’,

Thank you most sincerely for choosing to stay here in the Galway Bay Hotel recently and thank you also for your feedback.

All on the team are very disappointed that you did not experience the true Galway Bay Hotel experience for which we are renowned. I would like to apologise to you most sincerely. I receive approximately 250 pieces of guest feedback and I have to say that the feedback regarding your dinning experience in our Lobster Pot Restaurant is in contrast with the numerous feedback which I receive. I would have to say the same with regard to your feedback regarding the staff members. I would also like to point out that we are a four star hotel operating at an above average level consistently – being awarded ‘Best Four Star Hotel in Ireland’ on three occasions in the recent past. That being said I would welcome the opportunity to liaise with you personally as I would welcome the opportunity to regain your confidence with the Galway Bay Hotel. Please feel free to drop a line at dmurphy@galwaybayhotel.com

Sincere regards,
Dan Murphy

Just back from this place after June bank holiday - great stay, lovely weekend in Salthill. The Galway Bay and the Galleon rrestaurant up the road with a walk on the prom in the middle. Now that's the remedy to a great trip. Thanks to all in Salthill for a great weekend.

Not worth the money . No atmosphere in the hotel at all . The only good thing about the place is the view of the sea. Had dinner in the restaurant and it was nothing special . Had lunch in the cafe meal was not good I told the staff and they didn't care. Told me they will talk to the chef and never bothered coming back to me . Would not go back

While traveling around Ireland I spent a few nights in the Galway Bay Hotel with my husband and 3 young children. The staff were very accommodating and there was a great kids club which gave us some time to ourselves. The location is fantastic right on the promenade. The rooms were clean and spacious and the food was great. We will be returning to this hotel next time we are in Ireland.

Myself and my husband were recently lucky enough to get married at the Galway Bay Hotel and I can't imagine having a better day anywhere else. We had both the ceremony and the reception at the hotel and it was truly a day to remember. I cannot sing the praises of the staff enough - especially for their help in planning our day from the UK. We stayed at the hotel for a week and most of our guests stayed over the weekend, not one person had a bad word to say about the hotel, from the frendliness & helpfulness of the staff to the very clean & comfortable rooms everyone said they would definitely stay here again. The breakfast is one of the best I have had with a very good choice and the beds so comfortable (especially the pillows). I must also recommend the lobster pot restaurant which does exceptional food which I think rivals alot of the many good restaurants I have visited in London. It's in a very good location overlooking the bay and all in all is one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure to stay in.

after staying at smaller inns in Killarney and Dingle, we found that this hotel was a bit big and impersonal; the rooms were adequate and clean; we happened to be there on a rare warm day and found the hotel is not air-conditioned, but they did have fans for us to use. We stayed two nights. The view across Dingle Bay was beautiful. There are plenty of pubs nearby and the center of town is only a short ride away. I had a massage in the spa - very good. There were insufficient staff in the breakfast area the first morning but the second morning, the service was very good.
