Just off the main old town section of Killarney, we found this great little place to eat. Timing is everything and we managed to get a table on a busy Saturday night, before another major rush occurred. There was line of people waiting to get a table as we were being served and they all looked to be locals. We love to eat where the locals eat. They know where the good food is.

Caragh's specializes in cottage pies, Irish stew, roast Kerry lamb and baked Kerry ham, along with many other selections.

You can't go wrong with anything you serve, just remember to save room for one of their delicious desserts!

This was a return visit to this restaurant after 12 months. The service is still very friendly and we may even have been remembered. The food here is based on quantity over quality but the food is fine if you want wholesome food like your mother used to make. If you are hungry then this place is ideal. Meat, fish and potatoes were cooked okay but the vegetables were soggy and overcooked but we were late diners so this may have been a factor in their condition. Prices are very keen. There are a lot of places to eat in Killarney so we will probably give this a skip next time.

After walking around for quite a while and browsing the places to eat we eventually returned to this place as it seemed to have what we both wanted.

They met our needs with hearty grub. Like others I enjoyed the Lamb shank and my wife had the fish pie. Both good.

One oddity we encountered everywhere was that no one seemed to serve roast potatoes with sunday roast? Is this an Irish thing or just Killarney?

We happened across this restaurant as we were walking through city center of Killarney. The menu posted on the window looked pretty good. This is more a local flavor restaurant. We ordered Shepard's pie. It was the best we had on the whole trip! Servings are plentiful. We even went back a second time in the span of 3 days.

I had nearly given up trying Steaks in Ireland as they never seem to come the way I have ordered them - I like them rare, but always get them medium to well done.
This place gets it and it is delicious. Can't wait to go back.
