Stayed for 2 nights, got a really good value last minute deal with supervalu getaway breaks. Really relaxed and friendly atmosphere, ate in the PKs restaurant both nights, staff were so friendly and there is great mid week deals on food, the LIR spa had amazing offers and we went for the Pick n Mix option with 1 treatment & 1 hour thermal suite, we booked this last minute (just 2 hours before the treatment!) and the staff were so accommodating with us and worked around our plans. The spa comes complete with outdoor hot tub, bliss!! Would recommend & would stay again.

I couldn’t thank Mary and the team in hillgrove enough for the experience we had on our wedding day on 14th September 2018. Mary is a perfectionist had everything thought of and made our day amazing! We have stayed in the hillgrove multiple occasions and are so glad we decided to book our wedding here. Would highly recommend Mary and all the hillgrove team. Amazing hotel!! We will be back soon!

Had a wonderful wedding here over the weekend with family and friends. Wedding dinner was absolutely delicious staff friendly love the hillgrove. The hotel is beautiful. The bridal suit was stunning

We recently had our Wedding (August 31st 2018) in the Hillgrove Hotel. We would Highly recommend this as a venue for a wedding, from the attentiveness of the Wedding coordinator's Enda and Mary to the friendliness of the staff. The hotel is large and spacious, especially with their one wedding per day policy. We were delighted with the quality of the food and the service with it. On the day, Enda couldn't have been more relaxed and professional and helped guide us through the day seamlessly. The venue also provided great amenities for the kids, i.e. bouncy castle indoors with childcare made available etc. Loved our experience x

This was our second visit to the Hillgrove Hotel and we were unfortunately very disappointed with our experience this time round. We arrived after a 12 hour trip driving from London so as you can imagine looking forward to a nice hot shower - no such luck as the water system was broken and we had no hot or cold water - we were on the forth floor and were the last floor to have the water reinstated several hours after our arrival, the only form of communication we received was a note under the door to say the water would be extremely hot until at least 9 am the next day (when it eventually came back on).

We travelled with our 4 month old baby and lots of baggage etc, and on the second day the only lift to our floor broke down. We were all informed by a note on the elevator door, nice! Management by the way are very much behind the scenes here and no one of authority seems to be available if you have any concerns or issues.

We raised the issue of the out of service lift to front of house who advised us it would be fixed within the hour, this was the response we received the multiple times we asked over the next four hours. So we were left to carry the baby, buggy and other baby paraphernalia up and down the stairs with no offer of assistance. The lift Engineer arrived the next morning and said it would be 24 hours before it would be operational again. I don’t know what was more frustrating- carrying everything up and down several times a day or being mislead by the staff.

The Hillgrove claim to be a 4 Star hotel, it’s not. it could possibly qualify for a 3 Star at a push. The rooms are basic akin to a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge except slightly bigger (we had a double room) the room furnishings are practical but not aesthetically pleasing, there’s no mini bar, no informational brochures to show you what’s going on, Restaurant menus etc as you would expect to find ... nada!

And the most important service you would expect as a minimum at a 4 Star is again lacking here.. room service! (Gasp) and to add salt to the wound the bar (PJs) stops servicing food at 845pm.

If the above was not bad enough the room next door to us was ungoing what appeared to be a ‘60 minute make over’ Just in time for the wedding fair the next day, workmen were banging and hammering until 9pm at night to get it ready ... they politely stopped hammering the wall adjacent to our bed when we told them we have a baby sleeping, they then started hammering the far wall which was no better as the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors conversations.

Other than those minor gripes our tea and coffee supplies were not replenished daily, the rooms are too hot and parking is a pain.

We sadly won’t be revisiting.
