“A treat for me the hubby and our dog”
Reviewed October 6, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We decided to spend a week in Ireland at the end of August to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The house was stunning with so much character and lots of original features. Sadly for us the weather was not great but it was so lovely and cosy making peat fires and enjoying the cottage and the Irish hospitality. The welcome tray on our arrival with apple pie and bottle of wine and the provisions in the fridge were also very much appreciated.
I have to say the beds were super comfy and so high it was like sleeping in bunk beds and quite an experience. the only little niggle for us was the fishing, at the back of the house is a very narrow part of the river not really suitable for serious angling, my husband is a keen angler and we normally book a holiday cottages in Ireland with Lake fishing on site, other than this we found it fantastic and had a very nice holiday . If you have want a nice meal we loved the Oarsman in carsick on Shannon food was fantastic .

I'm really pleased the cottage met your expectations especially as it was an important anniversary. I'ts important to me that the cottage and farm buildings retain their original character. You were a little unlucky with the weather but it gave you the excuse to have a few turf fires in the stove and open fire. The beds are certainly higher than modern beds but thats because as you know the bed frames are original to the cottage.Thank you both for taking the time to write such a positive review of the cottage and perhaps one day you may return and if you do you will certainly receive a very warm welcome.

“Character & Comfort”
Reviewed September 28, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

A lovely place to stay, both in the cottage & its surroundings. Kieran is a great host & the cottage has everything you could need for a comfortable & enjoyable visit. We were very lucky to have had great weather & could sit outside & eat - would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable home from home.

Many thanks Kieran

it was a real pleasure having you both stay at the cottage and to know that you enjoyed the house and its grounds is very satisfying. Eating outside on the grounds or down by the river is very enjoyable but particularly as you say this summer and autumn when the weather has been so settled.
I look forward to having you both back again at James Tymon cottage some time in the future. Thank you for taking the time to write your kind review.

“excellent cottage and great central location”
Reviewed July 19, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Stayed at this cottage for two weeks in July, very clean and comfortable, has everything you could need from a well equipped kitchen to very comfortable beds, the grounds around the cottage have been well laid out in walks and there is a walk along the river which we enjoyed very much, we also watched hares and foxes in the fields along the river but you need to be very quiet. A great place with a very friendly owner.

I am delighted you took the time and effort to write such a thoughtful review of my cottage. Your comments about the house and its facilities are much appreciated. The walks around the farm especially along by the river are relaxing and as you found one can happen upon wildlife if you are watchful and what a joy that is. I hope to see you and the family back again at James Tymon cottage sometime in the future. All the best till then.

“What a gem!”
Reviewed March 31, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

Stayed for four nights, wished we could have stayed longer. Amazing cottage, very welcoming and one of the best equipped cottages we have stayed in. Lots of lovely treats and stunning log burner to welcome us. A total gem and well worth a return visit.

It was a great pleasure meeting you all and I am very happy that the cottage was all that you hoped it would be. After you left such wonderful comments in my guest book at the cottage I didn't expect that you would go to all the extra trouble of writing a review on Trip Advisor. It was a very pleasant surprise to be told you had done just that. With many thanks for your generous comments may I say I look forward to meeting you back at the cottage again in the not too distant future.
best wishes,

Kieran Ruane.

“A Birthday Present”
Reviewed March 18, 2014 for a stay in March 2014

This was a birthday present for my sister who wanted to stay in Ireland on St Patrick's day before her birthday.
She was not disappointed we had a lovely time. The cottage is a real gem and home from home. Kieran had prepared the fires for when we arrived and there was a lovely rhubarb pie to greet us.
The peat fires make it very cosy and a fantastic selection of reading material is available. Must not forget to mention the sumptuous mattresses on the beds for a great nights sleep.
Some great walking on the doorstep along the river.
The locals are really friendly and helpful and there is a store in Gurteen which has everything you need.
Ballymote is a short drive away on your way through to Sligo.
Only one thing the four days was far too short and should have done longer so will next time.

I am delighted you both had an enjoyable experience at the cottage particularly as it was your first visit to Ireland.Thank you for your kind comments on the comfortable beds, the selection of books and the peat fires. Really pleased you took advantage of the walks on the land. It is certainly lovely and peaceful along by the river. “Warm, welcoming cottage in central location”
Reviewed October 16, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We arrived on a cool, rainy day to be greeted warmly by Kieran who had the turf fires burning in the stove and fireplace, making us feel immediately at home. Kieran showed us around the property, which is very well cared for and even more charming than the pictures demonstrate. The much talked about apple pie was waiting (and boy was it good!) on a tray with all the fixings for a nice pot of tea. What wonderful Irish hospitality! The house was equipped with everything we needed, including pots and pans for cooking in. There's a small grocery store in town to pick up supplies, as well as numerous supermarkets in the surrounding towns. It is a great central location for visiting the area, within an hour drive of so many places it is hard to pick and choose. In Gurteen village there's the Coleman Traditional Irish Music Center with live music shows. Unfortunately for us there were no shows during our stay. We highly recommend a visit to Eagles Flying in Ballymote, just a short drive away. We would happily stay here again if we return to the area.

I am really grateful to you for reviewing my cottage so positively. I am pleased you found it to be so central for exploring the surrounding counties. As you said you are within an hour of most attractions and I whole heartly agree with you abour visiting the Raptor centre which is just a few miles from the cottage. It is a real pleasure to observe those rare birds and the care they receive. Perhaps you will return sometime in the future to James Tymon cottage and you can be assured of a very warm welcome.
