Just Driving through the town centre of Tewkesbury, hides the beautiful Ham. Although this time of year, as a natural flood plain, it is normal for the land to be covered by water! Park down by the Abbey and cross over passed the Bell Hotel. There is a causeway to walk along from the Abbey Mill to the Healings Mill and the moored boats to see floating very high! From Healings Mill go across the bridge to the award winning Fish and Chip Shop. Delicious! Back towards the river, Walk the opposite side of the river on the newly extended, signed river path and read the information plaques to get a potted history of Tewkesbury. In the summer the Ham is dry and it is possible to circumnavigate the entire area between the rivers Avon and the Severn meeting place. Lovely to take a picnic by the river. Fishing competitions are regular.

Love this piece of land and the dogs take me straight there. It’s funny, but on cold wet days when there are not so many folks about it’s even more magical.

The Ham is a flood plain surrounded by rivers on 3 sides. It is easily accessible from Tewkesbury town centre and is probably a 2 mile walk if you walk all the way around.
Highlights of the walk include the old Abbey Mill and sluice, the imposing red-brick buildings of Healings Mill, the junction of the Severn and Avon rivers and a large weir in the far corner of the Ham. All the while, you're treated to views of the Abbey and riverside buildings from one of Tewkesbury's better angles.

Lovely walk on a blustery day around Tewksbury backs and the ham. Haven’t seen it so flooded for a long time. Well worth a visit!

the Ham is a great walk, plenty to see along the river, a good traipse through the grass and a good assortment of other walkers. But the Ham comes into its own because of the perspective it gives you on that wonderful town of Tewkesbury... its a perfect foreground and enables you to see Tewkesbury unfurl and its relationship to the river with its early dependence on it for its business importance. Its glorious and its free
