Description: The Abbey Tea Rooms is the oldest Teahouse in Tewkesbury. NOTE: We are NOT in the grounds of the Abbey, we are on the opposite side of the road with a suit of armour outside. An independent, family run business. Our focus is on good ingredients, mainly locally sourced, supporting the small independents where possible. We pride ourselves on serving food we would like to eat and at the standard we expect. From breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Note we do substantial hot meals during week days and a great Sunday roast.

Be prepared for a surprise as you walk in. Amazing place. We had an excellent Sunday lunch. How lovely to find a family run place without a sign of anything corporate. So rare these days. I hope to return again one day for afternoon tea. The scones looked enormous! Thanks for making a difficult day better with your wonderful hospitality.

We stopped at Tewksbury for a meal whilst on our way to Wales and found this lovely little tea room. We were amazed at the wonderful memorabilia articles decorating the rooms - a very unique place. We had a very nice Sunday lunch and the staff were very friendly.

What a find! Wonderful nostalgic tea room with so much to see. In addition the food was lovely fresh and filling even the people on the table next to us were singing this restaurants praises. We loved it it’s a must if your visiting Tewkesbury.

Trudging round town in the rain trying to find a last-minute table for Sunday lunch, we stumbled into the Abbey Tea Rooms without any high expectations. But we had a terrific lunch. A hearty, home cooked roast beef and pudding for four and a nice bottle of wine came to £80, which frankly was a bargain. The place is rammed full of vintage artefacts, from old advertising to packaging, toys and just..stuff. Mainly 1959s and 60s. And so we spent the whole time happily reminiscing as we spotted countless tens we remembered from our childhood, as well as - bizarrely - chatting happily with the other tables. A happy, friendly, good-hearted cafe/restaurant that we would thoroughly recommend, especially for anyone who grew up in the 50s, 60s or 70s.

Due to being a certain age, I was mesmerized by this cafe. In Tewkesbury for short time. Lucky to arrive before 1, got a seat and couldnt stop looking everywhere. To the coins stuck on seats to the marbles and conkers hanging. The roses in leaded windows. The dresser full if home baking. I sat at table with monopoly on tabe as decorations. Yes you are warned on table vase in Alice in wonderland style, cash or cheque. I was sitting by the big brass cash register. Bing, goes the sound of register saying thanks. I was thrilled from the second walked in. We had tea and scones, which were great. I went to toilets and the courtyard is brilliant. The owner has put thought and art and preservation in her work. She asked me why am I taking so many pictures. Because the art is divine. If I lived in Tewkesbury I be in there all the time. Who remembers chucking away green shield stamps. What an honour to grace the tea rooms
