This is an open market that only takes place on Sunday mornings by the river in Bordeaux. This market on its own is a reason to include a Sunday to your Bordeaux trip. You will find it more than appealing if you are an avid taste-explorer. There are stalls with all kind of delicacies where the local go to buy weekly supplies and the lucky tourists get a grip or a taste of french goodies. I would advise you not to get a breakfast on the day because you'll need some healthy appetite in order to try as much cheese as possible! Thus said by a self-admitted cheeseholic...
You will find hundreds of varieties of bread and as many cheeses to combine. There are also stalls with rotisserie chicken and fries, with flambé shrimps in whisky, with steamed mussels. And of course there are the oysters, that we thankfully/luckily left for last. On one end of the market (depending on where you enter) there is this one stall that only sells oysters. They do a combo of 6 oysters, a glass of white wine, bread and butter for 10 euros. Some of the best fresh oysters I've ever tasted. They have a few tables too for their customers where you can take your tray and enjoy. And by all means especially on a sunny day make the most out of it!

We enjoyed the market very much. Lots of locals shopping and enjoying life. Shrimp, oysters, bread, and wine for brunch is perfect! River boat cruise ships tied up on the quasi, skateboard park, shopping - nice vibe!

Highly recommend visitinh this market, since it has both a farmers market for locals to shop for their produce and an open market with stalls selling a wide variety of poultry, meats, cheeses, seafood, olives, breads. There are also several little cafes serving sandwiches and seafood. We really enjoyed a cafe that served an assortment of oysters, shrimps, and other shellfish complimented by some fresh French bread and white wine. And it was very reasonable. It gets very busy, so go early because it closes early. They also have free, clean restrooms. Highly recommend if you visit Bordeaux.

Strolled through here on Sunday morning, it was chilly and a bit damp but just seeing all the amazing stalls here brought a smile to my face!!
The produce they have is so fresh , so well presented you want to buy it all. Great to see so many local people standing in line waiting to buy. This tells you it must be good quality.
Loved the oyster stalls, we had tried some on our river cruise and these looked just as fresh and tasty.
