Arrived a little early for check in but my Accor app said I would get the keys despite this. Frost greeting by Céline on front desk. Bell boy was much more friendly and kindly took our luggage to store it. I enquire about the parking as was under the impression it was free when we booked. It was not. It’s a very narrow underground car park charging €19 for 24hours. Apparently the hotel used to have subsidised rates but not any more. The proximity to the hotel is good. Directly opposite when you emerge from the parking. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Breakfast seems pricey €16 so we will venture further afield. Good choice of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity and even more at a little walk. Close to water front and lovely views just outside day and night. Italian guy on front desk much more amenable and friendly on our return to check in. But I kind of expect this kind of service anyway especially if you have 4 stars. One night is enough for us. Heading out early tomorrow to save some money on the parking.

The Mercure Bordeaux Cite Mondiale Centre Ville offers well maintained facilities: the rooms are of good quality and also the breakfast room is clean, light and comfortable. The lobby is very small and could do with a bit more atmosphere, especially since the bar is located there as well. It's a nice 10 minute walk along the river to get into the city centre.

Breakfast is served in a bright room and offers a good selection - both in quality as variety.

Downside is that even with the airco on full power the rooms are quite hot at night (even when it wasn't warm outside) and the windows do not open to make up for that.

Reception staff are not the strong point of this hotel either. It was impossible for them to arrange a taxi van even with a few hours' notice, and the promised next-day release of an unused autorisation on my credit card did not happen either.

Based on the room and breakfast this hotel would deserve a better rating - if only the rooms would not be so warm and reception staff service delivery would improve.

I don’t know how hotels get their ratings these days, but this does not qualify as a 4 star. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels worldwide and this rating baffles me. Check-in was very efficient, a very warm welcome from the man on duty, then we went to the room. What a disappointment, it’s almost like the bar/restaurant/reception area belongs to a different hotel. The rooms are dark and scruffy and are well overdue a refurbishment. Breakfast was very nice, lovely fresh food, very tasty and the highlight of our stay. The bar is a very cold unwelcoming area with expensive drinks, horrible place. If you just want a basic room with a bed then choose this hotel, but for anything more, avoid.

The hotel is set back from the quais des Chartrons in a modern conference centre, but the location is reasonably convenient: a tram stop nearby and the walk to the city centre is manageable. Our double room was spacious, clean and functional - nothing more. 'Tea and coffee making facilitiies' left something to be desired: paper cups, two milks and three teabags - one green and two fruit. A request for black tea bags was met with the suggestion from the duty manager that we purchase the tea bags or order tea at the bar! The bar and the restaurant area off reception were particularly soulless and we weren't tempted to try them, but the breakfast room on the seventh floor has a good view over Bordeaux, and the buffet selection was adequate (breakfast was included in our rate).

Found this hotel to be quiet and clean very modern. Bit pricey for drinks and breakfasts. Also a bit of a walk to the center of the city. Bordeaux is a beautiful city and very historical. Travel by the tram service for 1.60 euro any length of journey
