We saw this restaurant from the top of the hill as we walked down and took the steep steps down, waited in line for a few minutes and we were seated at a table on the water. The grilled sardines were fresh and seasoned perfectly. The ‘moule frites’ were a large serving in delicious light cream sauce, each bivalve was plump and juicy. The accompanying rose wine went perfectly with our meal.

This place, being in one of the most tourist places has good value for money if you know to choose your dish.
We look for what the locals were ordering and decided to taste the tuna and the sea bass.
It was all good.

When we went here first there was a queue of about 30 people so we gave it a miss. Next time we got a nice little table. We had THREE starters (because we couldn’t decide) and a main each. Everything is cooked so simply and the flavour of the actual ingredients can just come through. The tuna and mussels and sardines were deliciously soft and fresh. The octopus salad was dressed beautifully. Ended with a lovely lemon meringue pie and coffee. Our server was very efficient and we never needed anything. Not cheap but I don’t think anywhere is in Biarritz. Really felt like a lovely holiday dinner.

Spectacularly situated right beside and overlooking the harbour it is not surprising that this place is a bit of a tourist trap.It is all pretty basic but the food offering is actually quite good if somewhat basic. Service is all a bit frantic and we were left with the impression that they were somewhat short of staff and the guy at the entrance might have been better employed helping out rather than trying to exclude passing tourists from using his toilets which left something to be desired anyway.

We’ve had lunch at Casa Juan Pedro. It is located in a quiet beautiful place just next to the harbour. Good food and childrens menu for a good price.
