“Busy Doing Nothing”
Reviewed August 18, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We're not one of those sporty families that have to be doing something 24 hours a day, so we took time to relax at Chez Charrier with the fantastic pool and garden. The barn was also at hand not only for table tennis but also to watch the bats come out at night chasing bugs.
For days when we weren't chilling, we went to the river and lake beachs, we also went kayaking (2 hours was plenty for us), on the zip wire and visited crazy golf twice, which was a laugh. Underground church worth a trip and and got our Dordogne fix with a day trip to Bordeilles and Brantome.
Saint Severin is a lovely walk away via a quiet road through the fields.
We did big shop at Le Clerc Riberac with daily visits to local Spar for fresh bread, croissants (how may each is considered greedy??) and other provisions. This shop has everything you need and the assistants were a delight and it was great fun trying our pigeon French on them.
The weather was lovely but not silly hot - still recommend rashies for the kids as they will be in the pool for at least 4 hours a day. Naturally, we forgot them, but got them at Decathlon in Angouleme.
Dave and Annette were at hand to clean pool and answer any questions we had - nice people.
There was a libary of paperbacks to work you way through as well.
To break up the journey we stayed in Le Mans on way down and near Camembert on the way back.
Hoilday was over too early which says it all.

“The very best place to relax and have a hassle free holiday”
Reviewed September 17, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We have been visiting this wonderful house for 30 years now. and it never fails to delight us. If you want to find peace and quiet this is the place for you. but this house is also great for families as it has a wonderful pool.
We spent our time swimming and reading with the added bonus that this year was the absolutely glorious weather the best we have ever had.

“Very Comfortable stay”
Reviewed August 16, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have just got back home from 2 weeks at this lovely farmhouse. We have stayed in a few over the years but this one was by far the best! It is in a location that we are very familiar with with good access to all the local towns, markets and swimming lakes. The house has everything you would need, home from home really, oh except a toaster but it wasn't essential. Very spacious and comfortable, great pool and the boys really loved the table tennis. Robin is a great host. The house is very private and peaceful and a great place for a relaxing holiday.

“The perfect French getaway”

We travelled to Chez Charrier for two weeks in mid-July 2015 with our two young children (7 & 4) and had a wonderful time!
This is a lovely, large house in a beautiful, quiet location, surrounded by open countryside and fields of corn and sunflowers. There are many great places to visit locally, including freshwater beaches and, further afield (90-minute drive), the fantastic prehistoric sites of Les Eyzies.
The heated swimming pool was a welcome addition for cooling off after a day's excursion with the children! The large gardens with hammock, sun loungers and table tennis equipment add to the enjoyment.
The village of Saint-Séverin is only a mile away and has two bars serving food. The village also has a post office, a butcher, a baker and candlesticks are available at the SPAR supermarket.
The house is well equipped with all conveniences needed for a fabulous, relaxing holiday.
Robin (the owner) is very friendly and made the booking process very simple through excellent communication.
We heartily recommend a stay at Chez Charrier!
Thank you very much!

“Brilliant home from home with a lovely private pool”
Reviewed September 9, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed for a fortnight at the end of July/beginning of August and had a fabulous time. We are a family of five (mum, dad and three kids - 16, 13 and 10). The house was lovely and clean with everything you could hope for. We all loved the heated pool - father and son had many exciting table tennis matches in the open barn during the rain. The local area was stunning and there were plenty of places to go. But be warned; if you want French culture don't go to the big touristy places in August as you can't move for British tourists talking loudly and demanding chips and sliced white bread because "how am I supposed to make sandwiches with this?" The local village is pretty and the Clown bar very friendly with particularly nice pancakes appreciated by locals and tourist alike.

A brilliant holiday cottage, in a lovely part of the world made even better by the very friendly and helpful owners who phoned on our arrival to check everything was great.
Due to open tread, steep stairs to bedrooms, probably not ideal for disabled or small children but plenty of room for large families - could easily take 6

“Great holiday”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This was our 1st time renting a place abroad. We were a little worried that things lived up to the literature and pictures.

No need to worry, Robin is a great host, considerate and accessible as were his on site team.

This was a great holiday. Location was no more than 5 mins from shops & 30 from Riberac. Can not think of a single bad thing about Chez Carrier.

Would we go again, absolutely.
