The hotel is located in the center of the city and is close to several restaurants.

I stayed there 2 times for 1 night. The rooms are weird - 1 room was nice with a large bathroom, the other was really old and smelt of moisture and the shower was rather out of shape...
Luckily rooms are cheap - breakfast is plain (not a buffet) so you might want not to have it there.

In 2004 and 2005, there was no free Internet access.

I have now stayed twice in this old, somewhat worn, but flavorful 2 star hotel. The rooms are a little rundown, but full of character, and some have very interesting, unusual layouts. I think room 18 has the large patio, and many of the rooms have a view of the church and castle. For 25-45 euros, and a comfortable room, good bath, and great location, it's a good deal.

The folks that run it are very friendly, fairly efficient (this is an old fashioned place), and helpful. The hotel has one of the smallest elevators I have ever seen. Two persons at most, and they should be intimately acquainted.

The hotel is located in the heart of the old city, about a 5 minute walk from the tourist office, and another 5 minutes to the castle. The new city is in the opposite direction, but still only a 10 minute walk to the center of town. Pau is very compact.

Pau is divided by the river (everything mentioned above is south of the river - uphill). There is a funicular that goes up from the train station, then it's a two minute walk to the tourist office.

This is a very beautiful, medieval city, with lovely parks, including one that runs along the length of the river, with footpaths climbing up to the new and old city and castle.
