On a pleasant evening, we arrived at Le Clos Saint Front for dinner to be warmly greeted by our host. After two weeks in delightful Perigueux, and having read the excellent reviews, we had saved this restaurant for our last night in town. We were not disappointed - it was the start of a memorable evening.

We were seated in a leafy courtyard with some interesting sculptures at a table with a small vase of fresh flowers. Our host, who was fluent in English, provided a detailed explanation of the excellent menu, whilst patiently tolerating my attempts to speak French. There was a range of interesting choices and we were impressed by the innovative inclusion of some unexpected and interesting ingredients in all three courses, including bright colours in some of the deserts.

All three courses of our meals were simply superb in all aspects - cooked to perfection, presentation, innovative use of ingredients, subtlety and balance of flavours, taste and size - and the wine recommended by the host was similarly excellent. Each dish was presented by a delightful young lady with an explanation of its contents delivered at our request in both French and English - warm, friendly, exemplary and attentive service.

We were impressed with the range and quality of the restaurants in Perigueux and Le Clos Saint Front was outstanding in all respects.

We went to this restaurant for dinner during our trip to the region, following the recommendations in tripadvisor. We were very dissapointed. The food was just average. The service too "cold". Not even once did a waiter show any interest in how we enjoyed the food or offered us any details. The prices were unjustfiably high. The only positive thing was the outdoors setup in a nice garden. However even for that you have to be one who does not care about the occasional falling from the trees above. In such a region there are much better places.

Turned up without a booking yesterday for lunch, with a three and a one year old in tow. Wasn't sure if families would be welcome but I couldn't have been more wrong: Patrick made us exceptionally welcome, spent time talking to my son, cleared space for my daughter to sleep in her pushchair and fashioned a high chair out of two chairs to get my son closer to the table.
The food was exceptionally good: the foie gras starter was outstanding and the beef a real experience. He selected wines to go with each course which were perfectly chosen. My son's desert has his name written on it in chocolate: such a thoughtful and kind touch.
Would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you so very much for a brilliantly memorable lunch.

I cant say more that hasnt already been said on these reviews. We went for sunday lunch. Just superb from start to finish. The head waiter recommended wines for each course and more. We have been in france for two months eating at numerous restaurants. This was our second in Perigueux, both excellent. We had the beef ...you probably need to book.

It is lovely to go to a restaurant and have the staff show genuine interest in you. We were really well looked after at Le Clos by both waiter and owner.
We sat outside on a mild evening in April but the heaters were on. It is a great setting here with interesting art work and a gorgeous tree overhanging the area.
Well we're here for the food and we were not let down. Having dined at nearby L' Essential two days earlier we were interested in the comparison. As it turned out both were excellent in different ways. Whilst the food here may not be quite as innovative and modern we enjoyed the experience more. Not going to mention what we had, suffice to say all 3 courses for my wife and I were excellent.
This place is worthy of your consideration when in Perigueux.
