We choose the menu Plaisir with lobster cocktail, half grilled lobster with a tasty sauce, croustillant goat cheese and tasty strawberries with liquor and ice cream.

Fruits de Mer is synonymous to Bretagne. Brittany is about seafood.
A visit of quality to Brittany includes savoring the local gastronomy.
Trust L'amiral to deliver CONSISTENTLY a simple but great seafood meal.
For many years now, every summer I end up ordering the Menu Homard. The three course menu consists of an entrée (starter) with half a lobster as the plat principal with a dessert.to finish.
A bottle of Sauvignon Blanc or a more predictable Muscadet will complete the dinner nicely.
An evening at L'amiral is always a highlight to a summer in Brittany.

We‘ve just had a small lunch at the L‘Amiral. The place where the famous commisaire Dupin takes his espresso every morning. The service has been OK, the food as well (we‘ve just enjoyed our Croque Madam ...). Well, and an espresso. :-)

Having tried a few mediocre restaurants in the old fort area, we wanted to try a top sea food restaurant. You need to reserve. My mistake may have been not going for lobster - instead I had oysters followed by a John Dory dish, which was pretty average taste wise, and a not particularly large portion. My wife had grilled Dover sole, preceded by grilled clams and loved both. I then had hot lemon sniffle for dessert which was excellent. It's a good menu, especially for shellfish - fish dishes - oddly like so many restaurants in Concarneau, are a bit limited. We had wine by the glass (Valencay, muscadel and a delicious muscat) which was uniformly all very good and well priced. Service was hit and miss depending on who you got.

We had a good tasty meal. The salmon tartare was a little to « creamy » but we enjoyed it. And the lobster was very tasty. We could have eaten 2.

The huge downside which ruined our evening was the attitude of the service staff. Beeing Swiss we perfectly understand German and English ( speak French with no accent )and it was horrible for us to hear the staff making racist jokes to the German and English guests beside of us after telling them very offending things in French with a huge smile on the face. Shame especially on the waitress.

Even the best food cannot be enjoyed when served by idiots.
