We stayed in the Chateau de Lazenay on two separate nights, on the way down to Nice and on the way back. It's a beautiful hotel, the rooms are spotlessly clean and well-decorated, views from the windows fabulous and the breakfast is a real quality spread. The host, Eric, is really friendly and helpful too. We were really only looking for a place to rest our heads, but the Chateau was cheaper and much nicer than any of the local Ibis's' or Campanile's. Also free wi-fi! Would highly recommend!

This hotel almost seems incomplete, or newly completed, on the side of a large lake, the rooms are spacious and the staff, only one or two were seen, were very helpful, rooms clean and tidy, no restaurant so you have to drive into town to get a meal, but staff recommendation was good. We overpaid and had not realised it, but were contacted by telephone and we called in on the way back and were refunded our overpayment in cash.

Stayed here for 1 night at the begining of a holiday. Room was pleasant but nothing to rave about. Fairly uncomfortable bed. room was a great size though with a tiny little kitchenette and a decent size (although not beautiful) bathroom

The hotel is on the edge of a lovely lake with some nice walks around. There's a nearby (ish) restaurant that very kindly made us some food late on a Sunday evening - be sure to get there before 9!

Not an awful place but I'm sure there are nicer hotels in the area we could have stayed in.

We stayed here for one night on a recent Euro Trip. The Chateau is beautiful, elegant, modern, comfortable and chic. Our room was perfect overlooking the grounds and lake. The management and staff were wonderful, extremely friendly and enthusiastic about the area,. food, wines, activities. The breakfast looked great but we didnt have tiime to stay and enjoy one. Bourges historic town was fantastic, there is a massive cathederal and so many wonderful buildings, lovely cobbled pedestrianised streets and pleanty of restaurants and cafes . We only wish we could have stayed longer. Everything was perfect !!, Highly recommended.

Should've posted this earlier! Ended at the Chateau by chance for a short stopover on our way home. Glad we did - charming place, lovely people! We intend going back - hopefully this summer!

We stayed here just for one night enroute to Calais from the South of France. We were alittle disappointed that it was not located in the centre of Bourges but this was probably our error, we didn't read the information correctly. However, we found the hotel and the staff charming. The proprietor was very helpful recommending an excellent reasonably priced restaurant in the city - Les Beaux Arts, again we experienced excellent service and the food was delicious.
The room was very large and comfortable and the next morning we enjoyed a very pleasant continental breakfast.
If we're ever in the vicinity of this hotel again we would have no hesitation in booking again.
Unfortunately there is no lift, but then it is a chateau!

Booked a larger room and was not disappointed. Smaller rooms were 65E and this was 85E. Nice area with adjacent park for long strolls by lake/resevoir.

  • Liked — roomy
  • Disliked — kitchenette sparsely equiped but OK
