We were in Chinon at the time when the All Blacks and French played their semi final games as part of the 2015 World Cup. The atmosphere was tremendous as we were the only New Zealanders in the bar surrounded by a sea of french supporters. The bar staff and waitress were very accommodating given our limited french and their equally limited english. This is a great place to be when there is a big sporting event.

Not sure how it qualifies as a Japanese restaurant, but it's a pub atmosphere with a varied menu. The small plate items we had were good and our drinks, like the food, were moderately priced especially compared to the more upscale restaurants in the area.

We had the €14.50 menu which was excellent value the quiche was warm and the jambo du pays delicious. The steaks were cooked perfectly as requested and the clafouti light. This was straight forward food well cooked at a great price.

We ate ate the Cafe Des Arts, the night before and had to wait half an hour to be served so this place was wonderful by comparison!. We were attended to straight away and our Quiche Lorraine was delicious, melted in the mouth and just the right size. My chicken in mustard sauce and my husband's steak, were also very tasty. I finished off with divine apple tart which also melted away and my husband's ice cream was equally sumptuous, there was no mistaking the raspberries in it. All in all, a great meal at a great price.

The restaurant is not very fancy -- more like a bistrot. But it has a variety of eating areas -- small outdoor, large indoor with billiard tables at the back, and a small enclosed area between the two with a lot of windows. The four of us ordered the fixed menu (with certain items that had an small additional cost), but even though three of us took more expensive options, we had a delicious 3-course meal with wine for 80 euros. The lady owner that served us was very nice and friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal
