So much to see ranging from 11th century castle thru 14th century citadel to the modern town. Great preservation of monuments and easy access. Much historical content including the liasions of King Charles VII with his mistress Agnes Sorel. Guided tours available and audio guides. Marvellous views from the public gardens. Artist Landsayer museum. Also good cycling routes around Loches and walks in the Prairies du Roi.

Thank Charles B

The cite royal (royal city) of loches is a by wall seperated from the rest of the city, place to visit. Mediëval or chateaval buildings give you that holiday feeling of visiting an old city.
Tip: use the touristic train. Do not forget to buy tickets at the Office du tourism!
Nice shops and ar the top a Nice little restaurant with tasty ice boules.

We wondered around visiting all the recommended places... OK but a very long climb an not worth it in hot July.

However when we had to leave, a very lively and appealing street bazar started all over the place... this one was really lovely !

Beautiful walled city and well worth a visit, but wear you trainers as the centre of the Royal city is steep and windy but definately worth visiting.

6 years on the trot, travelled all over France but if I was to live in the Country, this is the place I would choose.

Thank you so much for such a nice comment. Hope to see you again in the Royal City of Loches. New fittings will be installed in the castles, keep and royal lodge, in 2018. A new occasion to visit Loches et learn more about Agnès Sorel and Joan of Arc ?
Hope to see you again.
