“A lovely place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2011

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Napoleon. The staff were so friendly and helpful and even loaned me a laptop! Breakfast (extra - but worth it) was huge and delicious.
The room was bright, quiet and clean and the bathroom was roomy with a great shower. Parking in the narrow garage is a challenge but we walked everywhere and only used the garage on arriving and leaving. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from both the commercial pedestrian-only street and the ocean promenade. If we get back to Ajaccio ( I hope!) we'd definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a room on the garden side.

when we arrived in the early evening after a hard days driving we were told there was no booking for us and the hotel was full. We had a confirmation pre paid voucher but they just told us the hotel was full and our booking had been cancelled.
We were rebooked into hotel Fesch; a nearby hotel but would have to carry our luggage as there was no taxi access. Being away from home for some months we had heavy luggage and doing this was no mean feat. The new hotel was helpful and the room fine. we had to reverse the procedure in the morning as Napoleon had found us a room. Hotel Fesch however insisted hotel Napoleon sent a porter which they did and we just had to carry our hand luggage and tip the porter;
It turned our our hotel had made a ,mistake and they found our booking!!!
They put us in a room the size of a pocket handkerchief and there we stayed for four nights;
We are extensivly travelled and aware mistakes happen. It was only through the efforts of our travel agent this problem was resolved but not to our satisfaction. The hotel could at least have given us a decent sized room;
Breakfast was ok with helpful and friendly staff. Location good with nearby if difficult parking available.
Would not recommend this hotel. they were unhelpful and unfriendly. would however; recommend Hotel Fesch

Room Tip: insist on looking at your room before you accept it

Once we got our car into the parking garage (somewhat problematic) everything was wonderful. The front desk staff were very helpful and our room offered good value. The location is excellent, right in the center of town, but off on a side street so you could sleep undisturbed. Everyone spoke English. If you are arriving by car, you might be advised to ask instructions before you arrive on how to get your car into the garage.

Enjoyable hotel in the centre of old town Ajeccio. Just a short stroll from everything. Perfect for shopping, museum, cafe, eating and drinking. All close by.

Car parking is a bit tricky at first although garage was good there is no space in front of hotel for check-in and baggage drop off. Visitors are left with blocking street.

All in all: Would stay again and can reccommend it for vacation and business.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for one night in July.

Positives:
The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the night receptionist was a very pleasant old man who suggested a very good restaurant for us. Furthermore we were able to park our car in the hotel garage for an extra €10. The location was central.

Negatives:
The room was on the 7th (top) floor, and a refurbishment was well overdue. The floor had a carpet which seemed to be from the 70s, there was a hole in the bathroom door, and the bathroom was not very inviting - it seemed like nothing had been done in there since the 70s either. There was a bathtub with a shower option, but no shower curtain, resulting in a very wet bathroom after showering.

There was minimal insulation between rooms, so we could more or less hear the conversations in the next room.

All in all I would have expected a lot more from a 3 star hotel. Based on previous reviews on Tripadvisor I was very disappointed by the standards of this hotel and would not recommend it or stay here again.

We stayed for 2 nights and found the hotel to be convenient as a base to explore Ajaccio. It is helpful that they have a parking garage (10 euro a day) just around the corner from the hotel, but you really don't need a car to see the city. The reception and check-in was fine and on check-out they booked a taxi for us which arrived a little late. The room itself was somewhat dark and not as nice as those shown on the website, but still okay. There was quite a long way from the small lift to the room with corners and steps at different levels which was a bit awkward with luggage. We didn't use the restaurant since there were plenty of nearby bakeries for breakfast. The location is very central but tucked down a side street so not too noisy. If you are just looking for somewhere convenient to stay it is fine, but not really the place for a special occasion.

Room Tip: Not all the rooms are as large or light as on the website

Positives:
- Good location close to shopping streets and old city
- Very friendly and helpful staff
- Clean and comfortable rooms/bathrooms

Negatives:
- It sounded like a river flowing through our room whenever bathrooms in neighbouring rooms were used. Also some noise from the hallway.
- Breakfast OK, but not worth the price. Several good bakeries nearby.
