This one of the nicest, cleanest, most modern and well maintained hotels in I have ever stayed in! I can't fault it! The rooms are clean with lovely new white towels and careful cleaning every day with a fantastic sea view with balcony with chairs and tables. There is a fridge so just go from bed to balcony for your own breakfast! The bathroom is good with hot water at any time and is clean and well maintained. However, there is only a sliding door for privacy so make sure you know you companion well! There are some lovely, quiet and comfortable places to sit and have a drink from the bar - open most of the time. There is a free and easy atmosphere and no one bothers you unless you need help or advice. The breakfast is available at 10 euros and is adequate: hot drinks, juice, toast, fruit, yoghurt, cereals and pastries. The hotel is situated next to a bust road, but don't let this put you off- the blind at night will block out the sound and just across the road is the pebble beach with it's lovely warm water to swim in. Walk along a little way on the opposite side to the hotel and you will see a pizza take away (good pizzas!) and then a sign to La plage...it's a pebble beach but lovely and popular with families, friends, and couples. We had some great evening picnics on the this beach and it was light and warm until 10pm in July.
Getting about - you can take a taxi from Bastia airport - but it cost us 72 euros which was a shock - the distance is actually 28 Kms rather than 12 which is what some websites claim. On the way back we caught a local bus to Bastia town centre (walk along on the same side as the hotel downhill...… after 10 minutes you will come to a green bus shelter near another pizza place. Just wait there - buses are quite frequent and they all go to the town centre. It was 2.60 euros for 2 singles). Stay on the bus until you get to the Tourist Information Office then just get off. The bus returns to your hotels at exactly the same place - not on the opposite side as you might expect!) If you then want to get to the airport - keep walking uphill on the same side of the road......cross as few crossings and a roundabout and you will come to a café on your right hand side. After this café , it;'s the airport bus stop where you can wait. You can get the timetable from the Tourist Information office) You pay on the bus - 9 euros per person single)
If you want to find a nicer beach - sandy and long - wait outside the Tourist Information Centre - there is a blue minibus which goes to Ariella beach - free! It's not something that a lot of people know and it's very popular so just wait for it - it goes quite often. You can get the timetable from the TI office. Fantastic beach but take your own umbrella - it's very hot!
