We were served by the head waiter who clearly had enthusiasm for her profession. The flavours were robust and ingredients of a high standard. It was our best meal on Corsica.

The place du marche is possibly the nicest location for a dinner in Bastia. The restaurant is located in the north-east corner, overlooking the plaza. We had asked for a table outside, which is definitely what you should do (the interior looks a little too rustic 80s for my taste). The service was outstanding: attentive when necessary, yet sufficiently subtle not to interrupt a conversation etc.

Like many of the best restaurants along the cap de Corse, this one serves basically food that resembles the rich Northern Italian cuisine with some 'provencal' touches and some superbe seafood dishes: We had a starter of carpaccio that was very good but nothing special and a magnificent salad with langoustines. The major event of the evening was the foie gras and truffle pasta which we both had a for a main dish - very creamy, perfect balance between the truffle and the meaty taste of the foie, nice house-made tagliatelle. Dishes went great with a (relatively moderately priced) bottle of Montepulciano. Somewhat mixed experience for the dessert: Whilst the panna cotta with chocolate sauce and wild berries was a tiny bit mealy and dry, the pistachio parfait with chocolate ice cream an absolute poem.
The one slight letdown of this otherwise magnificient place is the price compared to other equally good restaurants you can find in Bastia: €26 for a main dish, even an excellent one, is somewhat uncompetitive in a city like Bastia that has at least 3 or 4 other equally good places on offer.

The owner's wife imposes her personality on this restaurant and treads a careful line between showing a personal interest in her customers and being overly intrusive. She is proud and passionate about the dishes presented, and rightly so, and takes great trouble to explain in detail what's on offer.
I suggest you just go with it and enjoy the experience and pay for your pleasure at the end and you will of enjoyed a memorable dining experience.

Small elegant place on the market square, lunch on the terrace or indoors; dinner indoors (focus is on the food). Very friendly staff (owner?) with excellent English who explained all the creative dishes and made a superb wine recommendations. This is on a par with some of our favourite places in Toronto (which is a great food city, so that's saying a lot) - I would describe as "creative corso-Italian" - definitely some of the most interesting food we had in 16 days on Corsica. Perfect service, elegant atmosphere. Even better than Le Pirate in Erbalunga (which was twice the price - and also great). Recommend highly

We chose this restaurant, on the basis of the Tripadvisor reviews, and were not disappointed.
The owner and the waitress were really friendly, and explained the menu in great detail. We had the home made tagliatelle with courgette and prawns - delicious, and the escalope of veal with muscat and prunes, also great. The recommended wine was excellent.
