“A poor quality, hurried dinner”
Review of Le Boccaccio

Le Boccaccio
Ranked #220 of 404 Restaurants in Besancon
Price range: US$11 - US$35

I write as both of us are being pestered to vacate a table we occupied only an hour, and €94, ago. In the meantime we have been rushed out some tasteless and insubstantial morsels of poorly cooked seafood and a decent rosé. The man next to us ordered the same and got a much bigger dish with more St Jaques and more gambas. That appeared to be because his shared starter contained empty shells which he complained about.
No finger wash was available except for a single tiny over-scented hand wipe. When I asked for a finger bowl I was told to go to the washroom. For a seafood restaurant this is very poor.
They do not appear to be interested in ensuring you have an enjoyable dining experience but that you just sit down, eat, pay and go. When catering for tourists maybe you’re not interested in return customers but only in extracting as much as you can in as little time as you can.
The wine was good and the young waiter was very nice but without good food this matters very little.
(I wanted to address these issues at the time but my poor French prevented dialogue)
