This was my first experience of this dining concept, and by far, it exceeded my expectations. Around the table you enjoy the company from all walks of life, and all parts of the world. We dined with a couple from California, a mother and son from Seattle and 2 lovely girls from Copenhagen. Although we met as strangers, we left as new friends.
Not only do you enjoy a four course dinner prepared by Jean Yves and his sous chef Fred, but you share in the knowledge about the combination of flavours and textures of this Vietnamese / French fusion inspired menu.
This is not a chef that requires or is in the search for any star rating, but one that wants to share his knowledge and passion with those who dine at his table.

Thank Claire M

This place is today rated #1 in Paris at Trip Advisor. And I'm sorry to say - but that is not fair to the really extraordinary and amazing food you can eat here in Paris. I really do like the concept of a private dinner - and I also like the concept of meeting other people who are sociable and like I do, appreciate great food. These things are all met at the EatWith concept. Last year we had the most amazing and wonderful evening in New York at such a venue. So we had high expectations and something to compare with. We have also the last couple of days been eating at some really nice restaurants in Paris - so we sort of knew the parisien haute cuisine level before coming to Jean Yves.
The food was all really pretty - Bravo! Jean Yves used to be an architect - he told us - and for sure he had a great eye for arranging the food. What I missed was flavour and timing. The dishes were all presented with great appraisal from JY and many instructions... in the meanwhile the food got colder - so the duck was almost cold and tasteless. The chicken/sushi rolls were fine, but not very interesting. The raviloli in my view also lacked some seasoning. The dessert was very beautiful and the taste was fine, but nothing more. Drinks and wine were fine - but the wine was the same for most courses. JY was asking us to guess stuff about the food - I personally found that tiresome and in the end he wanted us to evaluate what was the best of the menu (I never fancied appreciative inquiry, not even when it was in fashion) . He told us that he makes this event 6 times a week - and I guess this is something you could feel - it's a repetitive business - and that's just fine....

We had the pleasure of eating at ‘Jean-Yves table’ together with friendly travellers from US, Israel, Sweden, Poland and local french-chinese people. The Concert is symphatic, the food was good, but the ‘Master-chef’ was too aggressive and eager to get attention - and reviews here on the TripAdvisor - it spoiled too much of the good atmosphere.

The food was more pretentious than interesting. It was good, but not more than that. The number 1 ranking is misleading. The story-Telling about the food was routine and too dominating.

Dear Jean-Yves: Relax a little bit - and focus on the cooking.

Discovered this on Tripadvisor while searching for somewhere to have a special meal in Paris. What an amazing discovery ! Jean Yves is a tremendous chef and also a very welcoming host (assisted by Fred) and the food is excellent (as is the inclusive wine !). The high spot for us was meeting some really friendly companions for the evening - from different parts of the globe !
The setting is small and intimate with a maximum of 12 diners.
Jean Yves describes each course to the diners as it is served and gives a recommendation on how best to eat the various elements.
He provides four excellent courses together with an aperitif and wine all included in the fixed price.
Can't recommend the evening highly enough.
