“Lovely rooms, service and smiles!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2012 via mobile

This was our first visit to Paris and it was enhanced by the lovely facilities of this small hotel. We travel regularly in Australasia for business so to stay in a boutique hotel for pleasure was a lovely change. No request was too hard. A smile and assistance with our inability to speak French made every aspect a pleasure. From confirmation of prearranged tours to suggestions of local Restuarants and indeed securing a booking at a Michelin star Restuarant. No request was too hard. Lovely room and well cleaned and serviced. Enjoyed staying in a more residential area within easy distance of public transport or an easy stroll to many sights. We will return and will be advising our friends.

We stayed at the Secret de Paris for four nights of a nine-day trip. We had booked a Musée d'Orsay room, but were allocated room 26, a Trocadéro room, upon arrival. As soon as you arrive at the hotel you know you're somewhere special, which brings me on to the wow factors:

The staff are superb - we were shown round the hotel by Raphael and offered a complementary drink. All the staff were very welcoming and service standards throughout our 4 night stay were impeccable. The hotel and our room were incredibly stylish and very well designed. The doors that didn't slam shut, the mood lighting, the wall-mounted entertainment system, even the taps in the bathroom were all beautiful. I really liked having a fridge in the room which included complementary bottled water and orange juice. The room was on the second floor and had a window overlooking Rue de Clichy, which is a fairly busy main road, however the room had two sets of double-glazed windows so there was no traffic noise. The bathroom also had a window overlooking the back of the hotel, which was great when we needed fresh air without the noise and bustle of the main road. The hotel is not really located in the centre of Paris, but Place de Clichy and Liège metro stops are within a five-minute walk and the neighbourhood is full of reasonably-priced bars, restaurants and cafes.

The bed was very comfortable and we slept soundly. The bath was superb - big enough to fit two in comfortably with chromotherapy and jacuzzi settings, a great rain shower, and a handheld shower - I really couldn't have asked for more! To top it all off breakfast was wonderful - fresh bread, premium cereals, pancakes, continental meats and cheeses, yogurts, fruit, and omelettes cooked to order. Again, the service at breakfast was superb.

So where does the ow come into it? Despite the room being well-designed, it was incredibly small. We had two suitcases for a 9-day trip and we struggled to find enough storage space (one narrow wardrobe and a small cupboard). For a couple of days the size of the room would be fine, but it became a little annoying after a while. The only other drawback was the 'openness' of the bathroom, which is separated from the bathroom by a glass wall, the bottom of which is frosted over, but which doesn't really offer much modesty! Don't get me wrong, sharing a bath is romantic, but there are some things you need a bit of privacy for!

We loved the experience of Secret de Paris, and it's certainly a hotel that we'll never forget.

This hotel has charming and romantic rooms with Parisian themes. We had a room with a bath tube and this is highly recommended. The breakfast is wonderful and you can get it deivered to the room. We chose this option on our last day and enjoyed a long breakfast in bed. The staff is pleasant and offers very good service. I visit Paris several times a year and highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a romantic getaway. For business purposes I choose other hotels in Paris.

We spent the weekend at le Secret for our wedding anniversary and were very excited given the votes on tripadvisor. We turned up and the room we had booked and chosen specifically [the Musee D'Orsee room] was overbooked. The hotel offered us a glass of champagne and free breakfast to make up for the mistake, but it was quite frustrating as we did book this months in advance. When we checked out another couple at reception also appear to have had the same problem. We stay instead in a Trocadero room - it was not large but the decor was whimsical and modern. The hotel is located in the north west of the city, near the Clichy metro stop- its not as central as many other equally priced hotels which was another reason for the disappointment. The breakfast was good and there is also a small gym and sauna/steam room. The staff were all very helpful and effecient.

overall the hotel was fine. nice decor but location and price mean it is nothing really special. If i returned to Paris I would stay on the left bank closer to the main attractions so i coudl avoid spending 45 minutes each way gettting in and out of town.

OK but just not worth the money ....

Room Tip: no tips here as we didnt get the one we booked!

We were here for 8 nights and absolutely enjoyed everything about the hotel and the staff.

There is a metro station 5 minutes away that makes it easy to get where every you want, there is a movie theatre 200 ft from the station that has movies in English, alot of food choices and 2 excellent bakeries within a block or so of the hotel.

Hubby and I usually ate a heavy and late lunch (for us) then grabbed a sandwich on the way back to the hotel for later evening dinner or snack.

You can change rooms as often as you want to try out the different decors - or stay put. We were in the eiffel tower, the musee de orsay, and the artist loft (that one was due to a minor bathroom mishap that required us to re-locate for the night)

Rooms on floors up to 4 have excellent sound proofing, we never heard any traffic noise on those floors - Floor 5 (the artist loft) did have audible traffic noise, but I suspect a white noise generator would have covered it.

This being my first trip to Paris, I felt the rooms were small - particularly when you're backing for a 15 day trip, but the jacuzzi tub and shower made up for it in spades. Heaven! I simply got creative in storing luggage.

Very nice Samsung TVs and if you have movies on your laptop or tablet you could run an HDMI cable to the TV. They even have some cables on hand for you to borrow.

Staff is 10 stars out of 5. Polite, friendly, wonderful suggestions, most speak english - and quite excellently. They are the main reason my husband is willing to plan a return trip to Paris. I simply can not say enough good thing about all of them.

Breakfast is nice but expensive. We preferred grabbing something from a bakery as we headed out but did eat there twice + had room service one night. Food ranged from good to excellent.

Definitely will stay here again! We never could get to the Eiffel tower but didn't feel we missed much since the tower room had such a fabulous "view" on the walls

Room Tip: rooms ending in 1 or 2 will be near the elevator - that can be good or bad, we could hear it but it...

Stayed 4 nights here and couldn't say enough positive things about how you are made to feel welcome by the staff and how they go out of their way to make sure you get what you need to make the trip into something to remember. The bathrooms are great, we just had the shower - but it had jets, and a rain feature. The water was always hot and the mirror never fogs over. Mood lighting in the room to help relax you- really cool as a nightlight. The rooms are somewhat small - but space is used very well so that 2 people with 2 suitcases and a carry on can still move around well. Steam room and sauna were excellent and breakfast was great. Would go back in a heartbeat if I am ever in Paris again.

Stayed for two nights (Sat/Sun), location of the Hotel is 5 minutes walk from the Moulin Rouge, 10 minutes walk from city tour bus pick up and 10 minutes from metro.

Staff very friendly and welcoming, all spoke very good English for the less adventurous, all the rooms are themed, stayed in the Moulin Rouge room (very tastefully and respectfully furnished, certainly not OTT), very modern and an amazing shower (some rooms have jet baths) check for preference (shower/bath). There were bath robes/slippers/towels/toiletries/hairdryer/free save and plenty of storage in the room. Complimentary juices and water in the fridge, a large TV and separate DVD/CD/Multi media player (requires leads for media players, no docking points, accepts usb storage). If you want to watch TV all channels that are not French have been voiced over in French, late night TV common to all included.

Free map was provided, so save your money in the airport, staff very helpful and marked up all points that we wanted.

In the basement of the hotel there is a steam room available 24hr and exercise machines if you feel the urge.

Breakfast can be served in your room on request, the hotel serves both hot and cold food, and there is a good selection of meats, fish, cheese and fruits, with cereal. Hot food can be eggs (done how you like) bacon, and all the usual drinks, breads, yogurts etc. Breakfast served right up to 11am so no rushing up.

We did not eat a meal in the hotel, but there is a menu available (not able to comment).

There is a lift and wheel chair access, no access issues into hotel (no steps).

We were able to leave our luggage in a secure room in the hotel on our final day, which was very handy.

I would recommend this Hotel to those who want a unique hotel experience not readily available in such a beautiful location and Country.
