Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

We were not sure what to expect nor how long to spend here. That depends how long you want to take in art appreciation. If you just walk, allow at least 2 hours and half the museum was blocked off during our trip for exhibit updates. We spent most of our time in impressionist taking over 5 hours total in the museum. Buy your tickets on line and print them to avoid the cue. Take in a drink on the 5th floor overlooking the louvre.

While smaller than The Louvre, it was much more enjoyable and would recommend this as a required visit to anyone going to Paris.

Unbelievable collection of Impressionists. Start at the top and work your way downstairs. Amazing statues as well.

We bought the regular tickets and went on Tuesday morning. It was raining and the line was crazy long, so we decided to come back later in the afternoon. The line was shorter but still long. It moved quite fast. We brought umbrella so we have to line up again for the cloak room. However, it was definitely worth it. Collections were amazing, Monet, Gauguin, Van Gogh! If you only visit one museum in Paris, this is it. We went straight to the top floor, and gobble up the Impressionist section, then to Van Gogh section. Several tips: expect long line, just enjoy it; know ahead what you want to see, the collections was vast. We targeted Impressionists and Van Gogh and by the time we finished we were too tired to do anything else. Take silhouette pictures by the clock overlooking Paris. Enjoy!

This museum unlike the Louvre is not that big. It has an interesting variety so you can stay interested throughout. An art person will love it no matter but a non art person can enjoy it too.
