This was the perfect place to stay for a bit of relaxation after long, hectic days of exploring Paris. The location is excellent; there are several metro stations within walking distance, and the surrounding neighbourhood is quiet. The people who work there are all very nice and helpful. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated, with a view of the hotel's gorgeous garden. I had previously stayed in hotels near the Opéra Garnier and Place de la Bastille, but I much preferred Le Vert Galant with its quieter (but still convenient) location. I would definitely stay there again.

Went in mid may, still not too hot. Love this hotel but would not stay on hot weather as the do not have air conditioning....Other wise it is quiet, good breakfast, Sam 'll and clean rooms
It is situated near the Gobelins subway on a quiet side street and all rooms are on the garden
They own the Basque restaurant next door and it is full of locals every night attesting to how good it is..

Room tip: Only in floors, but I like one on the garden on the first floor

I had traveled to Paris six times before I decided to try something different — staying in the 13th arrondisement and at Le Vert Galant. I’ve stayed in the usual arrondisements in the Left Bank, and they make sense, especially if you’re new to the city and feel you need to be in the middle of things because you're unsure of how you'll fare if you're not, but I wanted a new experience and my time at Le Vert Galant worked out fine.

A solo traveler, I had my choice of two rooms and took one downstairs off the hotel garden. It was spacious, immaculate, and quiet. The staff, which splits its time between hotel duties and the hotel’s restaurant, was very helpful. The restaurant, Auberge Etchegorry, is excellent and worth a visit even if you don’t stay at the hotel or in the 13th.

The hotel breakfast, which is an extra 12 euros each morning and optional, is ample and provides everything you need for an excellent start to the day.

There are three convenient metro stops close to Le Vert Galant (Gobelins, Corvisart, and Place d’Italie). The metro is so efficient that it takes no more than two trains to get to any particular venue (it’s one metro train to the Louvre), so if anyone tells you that the 13th arrondisement is an inconvenient area to stay in, they’re wrong.

As for the area itself, it’s more residential. There’s a lovely park across the street. You hear the sound of children playing. You see parents taking their children to school. You can hear the sound of your footsteps on the sidewalk. You’re not immediately thrust into the bustle of the city. It’s a welcome change, especially if you’re looking for something other than the tired tourist cliché of staying in the Left Bank near the usual tourist haunts because that's what everyone else seems to do in knee-jerk fashion.

There are good restaurants in the immediate area. There's a pharmacy nearby as well as a supermarket. A wine shop is around the corner. There are plenty of cafés for happy loitering.

After seven nights at Le Vert Galant I took a shuttle van from the hotel to DeGaulle airport, a service which the hotel regularly relies on. It cost just 18 euros.

I highly recommend Le Vert Galant.

My wife and I have visited Paris perhaps a half dozen times. Long ago, using the Michelin Guide, I found the fat Michelin Man in repose under the heading,
"Tres Calm". That sounded good and this is what we found.

The hotel is on a little traveled side street with a park across the way. It is only two stories tall, a midget among surrounding giants. Half of the property is a lawn and garden stretching from the entry lobby back to the end of the lot. Rooms range from spacious to small...let them know what you want for amenities ahead of time. If possible write to them directly and avoid middle man brokers.

Breakfast is typically French, good coffee, baguette, croissant, fruit, yogurt and a home made pastry. It used to be served in the entry lobby, but now next door at an intimate restaurant (also worth dining at). The price is 10 euros currently.

There are three near-by metro stations giving one access to all of Paris. The tiny staff is extremely friendly and helpful. If one is lucky, one will meet the charming long time lady of the family.

This is the opposite of glitz. It's not for the "in crowd," but it suits us fine.

Room tip: As mentioned try to call, email or write directly

Stayed for just one night. Lovely hotel with helpful staff. Room was a good size with en-suite and plenty of storage. Also had enough plug points to recharge all my electronic gadgets. Overlooking a grassed courtyard it was also quiet. The hotel also owns the restaurant next door where we dined. Good choices and event better food at more than acceptable prices. Definitely would recommend abd would stay again.
