“Big View but Tiny Room”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

A few of the hotel staff were helpful (especially a young female desk clerk) when asked about touristy things like directions but one staff member actually made a sour face when asked questions. The room was TINY but when stepping outside the sight of the Eiffel Tower made one forgot square footage. Hotel is conveniently located off the Champs Elysees. The courtyard was being renovated so we could not take advantage of it but the lounge was comfy.. In spite of some downsides we would stay there again.
BTW-the Italian Restaurant next door- way, way, way overpriced

Imagine the scene - upon arrival, we found the courtyard of the hotel shrouded in plastic sheeting and scaffolding, and my wife - walking unsteadily only with the aid of crutches - was shown to our room over thin, uneven wooden boarding. Clearly unacceptable. But we did not have to say a word: the female receptionist who showed us the accommodation said SHE wasn't happy with it, she couldn't move us that night (we'd arrived so late), but she would have all our luggage moved to a superior room the following day. She was true to her word, and the rest of our stay was very comfortable. In the end, it was the cailbre of the staff that saved the day.

As other correspondents have noted, the hotel is only a 2-minute walk from Boissiere Metro, and a pleasant stroll to the Arc de Triomphe in one direction, and Trocadero (for views of the Eiffel Tower) in the other. The area around the hotel abounds with good, little restaurants and bars, and even a tea room with original Napoleon III decorations!

The hotel was recommended to me by a colleague at work, and I am more than happy now to pass the favour on to other TripAdvisor users. My only regret is that I will not see the hotel courtyard, minus its scaffolding and sheeting!

Room Tip: Rooms "with a view" simply look out onto a street and offices/apartments opposite. If you...

We booked one double and one single. Upon arrival at 10:30am, we were offered a two bedroom, two bath apartment, with kitchen for the same price. Plus, we were able to get in immediately, which was most welcome after our 10-hour flight from the US. You can spend more money for something fancier, but why would you? How much time do you spend in your room while visiting Paris?

It's all about location and this hotel has it in spades. My family and I spent four nights here on a mini-vacation to Paris and came away satisfied. We loved the fact that the hotel was only a block from the Boissiere Metro station for those quick getaways around Paris. We loved the fact that the hotel is only a leisurely 10 minute stroll down to the Trocadero area and just a further five minutes more to the Eiffel Tower. We liked the size of the room we had which had adequate space even though four people (2 big and 2 small) were sharing it. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast which included delicious croissants, bread, cheeses, etc... Finally, we enjoyed the service at the hotel which was very friendly and useful (case in point; one of our stroller's wheels broke and rendered it unusable for the remainder of our stay. The receptionist directed me to a large Carrefour where I bought a cheap one to make it through the rest of the trip).

A couple of things we did not like...the furniture in the room is very dated and has seen better days. In fact, one the nightstands in the closet was falling apart.....not good if the hotel wants to maintain a good reputation. Also, come on Elysees Union, what's with your exorbitant rates for Wi-Fi internet? Guests expect this to be included nowadays with the room.

This was a good hotel. I stayed here for 3 nights for business earlier this month and was happy with this hotel.

The staff were very friendly and polite (they spoke English as well as French) and I felt welcome from start to finish. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was pleasant, but the bedroom was rather small. There was a small wardrobe, double-bed, desk and bedside table and room for little else. However, the room was pleasant enough with a comfortable bed and heater/cooling fan.

The location is also ideal. Although I spent my time working, I was able to walk to the Eiffel Tower with ease. The hotel is very close to the Arc de Triomphe/Champs Elysee and the Kleber Metro station. It's therefore probably ideal for tourists who won't be spending much time in their rooms.

Last year in June me and my hubby went to PRis from Zurich. We stayed in élysées union. Location is very good. From Eiffle tower the hotel is 15mins walk. Next to the hotel there is a small grocery store, from there you can buy bread, cheese, coke, milk etc. Cafe, pub, pizza shop , pastry corners are in walk able distance from hotel. Metro station is also very closeby.
But hotel rooms are very small, double bed is very small for tall person, hair dryer was not working and ac was also not working.
Breakfast was good. Cereals, milk, fruits and pastries were there. But if you want boil egg or omelet you have to pay extra.
I liked that hotel mainly because of the location.

Room Tip: Very good location but very small rooms

We just returned from a week in Paris, France: 2 adults and 2 children ages 13 and 10. Stayed 5 nights in the Hotel Elysees Union.

The Good:
Location. 10 min walk from the Arc de triumph, and you can see the Eiffel tower right from the hotel entrance. We were able to watch the nightly light show standing outside the hotel's front door.
There is a small grocery store right next to the hotel. Not very good, but you can get Sendwiches, bread, cheese, ham etc. there. Just watch for the expiration dates on the products you get.
Nice hotel staff. Speak English well enough. Very helpful. On our last day we checked out early, and were able to store our luggage on a small luggage room they have there, until it was time for our flight back home.

The Bad:
Small room (but that's Paris for you). We reserved the quadruple room, but it actually had one double bed, one sofa bed and a pull out folding bed which is stored under the sofa. Not exactly what we had envisioned when we made our reservation. Also - when that small bed is pulled out - the room door will not open all the way. However - the mattresses were comfortable.
The room itself was a bit old. Door handles coming apart, cracks in the walls, etc. Shower was a bit funny - there's almost no way to keep the floor dry when you're taking a shower. There's also no place to hang the wet towels, so we had to have them changes with new, dry ones every day. On the last couple of days the towel we got smelled from cigarette smoke(!)
Even though the room was small, it (surprisingly) had a small closet room (a connecting door inside the shower) which was a real lifesaver, as the room didn't have enough space for 4 people AND their luggage (plus the folding bed).
Room was cleaned every day, but could have been cleaner.

Room has a safety deposit box (very importent as you don't want to carry you're passport and all the cash money you bring with you). Note, however, that you are required to deposit 100 euros in cash, in order to get a key for the safe. As this is only a deposit, you get the money back when you return the key at the end of your stay, but that's 100 euros less in your wallet for the duration of your stay.

No complimentry Wi-Fi Internet connection. You have to pay an hourly rate if you need one.

Summary:
All in all - great location, very nice staff, but we expected a bit more for what they charged us.
