I've been to Paris a lot of times and always for leisure. This time I wanted to change neighborhoods from QuartierLatin, where I love to stay and so I choose this hotel based on TA reviews and the location. Right on target !!! The rooms are clean, the furniture needs updating but that didn't bother me. For the Bastille-Marais area it was perfect.
The reception employees were always helpful, but maybe because I speak french :). The breakfast was nothing to write home about it, croissants, coffee and baguette with butter, but it was expected. A very nice surprise was fee internet in the rooms that really worked, so I didn't expect that from a 2 stars hotel.
The Carrefour City supermarket was 2 doors down so that was helpful and also at 4 o'clock in the morning the kebab place across the street was open so we could buy water and soda.
All in all a very good hotel for the standard, considering that I've stayed in 4* hotel that didn't measure to this on

very good value, well located. the room is small, but with private bathroom. There was a lady that was very helpfull, but the rest of the staff were very disappointing. No minifridge in the room, so don't buy food that needs to be refrigerated, as I did :(

Room Tip: the best one is on the top floor at the corner.

The hotel itself is very basic and the room was shabby. The walls must be paper thin as it was very noisy. The location was good though.

My main problem was with the night time security guard who was the rudest man we have ever met. He even swore under his breath at us. He obviously does not like the English. I will definitely never stay there again.

So I never book expensive hotels in Paris, simply because you can find decent cheap ones very close to all the major attractions. The receptionists are acceptably friendly here, and can speak english quite well, although they might not actually be at the reception desk but standing outside the hotel having a smoke when you need to ask them something. The room was OK. I've had better for the same price. Its the standard small Parisian budget hotel size, where you barely have space to put a suitcase on the floor without having to jump over it every time you want to move about. But thats alright, who comes to Paris just to spend the day in the hotel room anyway? The bed was quite comfortable and clean too. The mattress wasn't too soft, and wasn't too hard. Sound proofing was adequate, we had a room overlooking a road, and we didn't get woken up or kept awake at night.
There are 2 bakeries just up the road from the hotel, so if you want a good French breakfast, skip the hotel breakfast and just walk for 5 minutes to a real patisserie.
The location is quite convenient, about 20 minutes walk to the Seine, where you can get the Batobus (boat-bus) which lets you travel along the Seine and get on/off as much as you like during the day. The area feels safe enough, there is a police station a few streets down, so there shouldn't be too much to worry about.

Now for the problems. The cleanliness of the bathroom and part of the room was quite poor. There was a sort of black mold growing in the shower cubicle and in the corner of the room near the bed. This is completely unacceptable, and quite disgusting. I will not be returning to this hotel because of that.

We went to Paris in Feb. 2011 & stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The location is near to metro stop so its easy to arrive. . We were looking for a cheap option as hotels in Paris are pretty expensive, & this place suited for our requirement. The room is ok, furniture is old & size of room & bathroom is small. But nonetheless, its clean. The reception desk is friendly. We asked for directions & they were happy to help. You can hear the noise from adjacent rooms at night, but once u get 2 sleep nothing really matters. TV in our room was not working & we had to complain twice to get it fixed. We didn't had any meals in the hotel. And watch for yourself while getting in lift, its compact. The heating in rooms was alright, cleanliness was good. Overall, a decent place to get some sleep( & only that) after a hectic day of sightseeing.

We stayed in this hotel for five days and found it to be very good value for money.

The room was quite big by Paris standards, the bathroom was huge by Paris hotel standards and the standard of cleanliness was very high.

The television was advertised as having english channels but didn't however, we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel at night.

The hotel is in a good position to get to all the tourist sites and has plenty of cafes and coffee shops around that you could easily stay in the immediate area in the evening.

The hotel was very good, the staff were very helpful and the cleaners did a good job.

We have both agreed that we would happily stay here again.

Paris can be a nightmare to find accommodation in; always expensive, or if not, often untidy or unfriendly. This hotel was very different. It was clean, the staff were chatty and welcoming and the location was superb.

The room that we had was small but it was quite high up, under the roof itself and so quiet. It was neat and clean. It suited our purposes. Don't however expect luxury. It is a basic hotel.

The location is fantastic. It is a very interesting area of Paris, not far from the Bastille, with lots of good bars and cheapish restaurants. You can also find classier and more expensive restaurants in the area if you choose. The metro lines in the area are great for accessing sights. I couldn't reccommend enough though spending the evenings in the local area rather than the tourist traps of other parts of the city.
