“will never stay there again”
Reviewed 1 August 2011

My first trip to France and utterly spoilt by the choice of hotel. Here are the negatives:
- extremely small rooms
- even smaller bathroom
- unhelpful staff and rude receptionist
- very expensive for a 3-star hotel with no facilities
- the area was quite seedy, not well connected and deserted at night
- breakfast (included in the room) had very little choices

The positives:- none at all

If you are a family with 5 members then stay away from this hotel. Booked a quad room which normally works fine for us still. The extra person increases the overall price with 30%, and you will first know when you get there. The male receptionist did not show any flexibility at all. For the extra price you do not even get an extra pillow. Location is ok, but parking can be a challenge.

This hotel had small rooms and was located in a noisy and busy street. We asked to swap rooms as we were placed on the corner on the first floor and found everyone who worked there to be very unhelpful. Rooms were tiny, we could barley walk around the bed, bathrooms were even smaller and we couldnt fit under the shower head plus the room dont even have a proper lock on the door so didnt feel very safe at night

10 mins from Paris EST, a small but very quaint hotel, catering to a multi racial clientille.
The Hotel is old but maintained well and gives a good access to any tourist site.

Breakfast was a let down and so was the cost of the breakfast.

The owner is available most of the day and is extremely helpful with tourist tips etc.

First time to Paris so was unsure of value for money. The hotel is budget and has no frills. Low lights were uncomfortable pillows and the noise, our room overlooked an intersection so constant traffic noise. Finding the hotel & room was always interesting the doors aren't marked very well. No shower screen so water flooded bathroom floor. No tea & coffee making facilities in the room. Having no English TV channels wasn't so bad as it has prompted me to learn French so a good lesson learned :)
Good points included the location, close to Eurostar station - 8 min walk, close to the metro and a medium walk to the Seine River and major attractions.
Service was fair all my questions were answered by the staff. Breakfast was basic and the basement restaurant was rather unusual, but it worked.
Overall it was a bed for the night and gave us a taste of Parisian hotels and standards, next time I would spend the extra money & stay somewhere with all the creature comforts. Hotel OK if you are on budget & aren't expecting any frills.

Room Tip: Not facing the intersection

The hotel is small and dark. My single room had three beds and a small table, no other furnishing. The bathroom was small, with a wooden floor that was always wet due to the fact that the shower curtain was 15 cm to short. The towels were moist with stains on them, and on the toilet were 3 rolls of toilet paper, with just a few sheets of paper of them. Not very welcoming. The bed I slept in was comfortable, but I did not like the sheet and blanket, I prefer a duvet.

The room had a flatscreen-TV with lots of channels, however the TV was placed so high that it was difficult to watch as the colours change on a flat screen when you are not looking exactly direct on it. The minibar was empty, but worked well as a fridge. The wi-fi was free of charge and worked great - the best thing with the hotel.

The breakfast room is small, but there were always room for us. The breakfast varied from day to day - one day there were eggs, the next not, one day there were yoghurts, the next not. The coffee is from a machine, and the breakfast lady does the dishes in the breakfast room, just next to the food. I found that quite repulsing.

The hotel is situated a 10-15 min walk from Gare du Nord. There are several métro-stations in the area, but none is close by the hotel. When I go back to Paris I will go to another hotel - there are far better 3-star hotels in the same price range.

Pillows were untidy, glasses were also untidy. Buffet was small but food was good: croissants, mermelade, coffe, juices, bacon...

Internet was free but didn't work during all weekend, and hotel stuff didn't care about that.

It is a good hotel if you only go there to sleep.
