To add to my title: This hotel is newly renovated (with some work and attendant noise in the rear courtyard area still being completed) and the rooms, while small, are not as small as I have found in similar establishments in Paris. Ours was the least expensive category, but had three (small closets -- I'm not kidding!!) and a brand new beautiful bathroom.

While the room lacked a mini-bar/refrigerator, that was more than compensated for by the buffet breakfast included in the rate. Here, the staff, as the people at the front desk did, were acting like waiters working for tips!

I highly recommend this hotel if this is the type of hotel you seek.

Needless to say, the location is magnifique for either museum goers or shoppers.

Hotel Saint Germain is a boutique hotel. If you are looking for large, standarded rooms this isn't the place for you. However, if you are looking for a charming European hotel with character you will be very happy you choose this hotel over others.

The rooms are small, but wonderfully furnished and decorated. There are a few period pieces - wooden desk, chair, and wardrobe - and a comfortable bed. Depending on what kind of room you choose, your shower/bath can be quite small too. The front desk has an iron and iron board if you need one; they aren't in every room.

A "French" breakfast is included in the rate. Pastries, yogurt, tea/coffee, and fruit juices are included. This is one of the best continental breakfast I've ever had in a hotel. Free wifi is available too.

The location is fantastic - cafes, restaurants, and shops surround the hotel. Also, it only takes about 15 minute walk to the Louvre. The Rue du Bac metro station is less than 5 minutes away, so it is easy to get anywhere else in the city. There is an amazing French chocolate shop around the corner (Dalloyau) too.

I traveled to Paris for business with a colleague and stayed at Hotel Saint Germain for three nights. We don't speak French very well so we were especially grateful the hotel staff spoke very good English. The staff were helpful in directing us to restaurants and shopping as well as ordering us taxis.

Overall, a great hotel! I will absolutely stay here again when I am in Paris.

Room Tip: A classic room with a bath (a step above a classic room with a shower) is worth the extra money and...

I stayed there only for a night in March 2011. The hotel is situated 2 minutes walking from metro station and in an excellent region(saint germain de pres). The price and room size were proportionally great for Paris' standards. Would definetely stay again.

We have stayed at Hotel St. Germain three times now over several years. Location enables walking to many favorite spots and easy access to Metro opens up the remainder of Paris. Staff have changed, but always helpful and friendly. This is a small intimate hotel with smallish rooms, but stylish and clean. Some internet connection problems on upper floors, but I didn't go to Paris to work!

Room Tip: We prefer rooms on street side to enjoy quaint view, but may be a little street noise too.

Just back from 4 night stay in this lovely hotel in Paris. We are a couple in our early 50's celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and our 1st time in Paris. The Hotel was spotless and room whilst smaller than what we would expect of a 3 star hotel, was ample and very comfortable. The metro is 2 minutes walk away and there was a supermarket nearby for supplies if needed. Hotel staff were all very friendly and accommodating.Breakfast was croissant, bread rolls, fruit, yogurt, cereal, tea or coffee.
Took us a day or so to get our bearings but on day one we walked 10 minutes and reached the Seine and were just across from the Louvre which was well worth a visit. Will definitely be recommending the Hotel Saint Germain and wouldn't hesitate to go back there.

We stayed at Hotel St Germain in September 2011. We are 2 couples ages 55 to 60. This is our favorite hotel in Paris. The location is perfect. 1.5 blocks to metro. Walk to many major tourist sites. Rooms very comfortable. The hotel staff is so friendly and helpful. If you want a small comfortable french style hotel to stay in the heart of St. Germain, this is the place.

I picked this place because some friends of mine had stayed here a little while back and had only good things to say about it. I saw some of the pictures they brought home from their vacation and it seemed like good value. When I arrived it seemed that it was even better than the pictures I had seen...and after talking to some of the staff I found out they had recently renovated all the rooms. So it actually WAS better than the picture I saw.

The hotel room was extremely charming, and the place as a whole had a very "Mid-night in Paris" feel to it, which was perfect since I had just seen the movie. The staff was very professional and helpful. And most importantly, location, location, location! I loved the location, within a very stylish, 'chic' neighborhood. There are enough things within walking distance to see something different everyday. Some of my favorites were the garden of the Rodin museum and the Orsay museum. Even the Louvre is only about 10 minutes walking. I did find that the restaurants in the area were a bit expensive as a whole, but I suppose that that's expected in such a nice neighborhood.
