The location and price level of this hotel is an incredible combination, it's actually cheaper than most of the hostels of paris (for a double room). We were welcomed by a very nice receptionist, and checked in within minutes. The room was of a pretty decent size, the people who have complained about the size of rooms here must have been on a bad acid trip. Nice and clean, nice bathroom, big window, tv, heating working fine. Nice big bed.
We were at the top floor, some people also complain about the lack of elevator, that's Paris. The staircase was nice enough, not cramped as I've seen people write. The area is nice too, one of the most tranquil areas of Paris, close to Tour-Eiffel and the old centre of Paris. Buses running just up the street, and metro just 5 mins away.

Excellent hotel.

Great little hotel - a gem of a place in a great location. Room small but perfectly adequate for its purpose. Bathroom facilities obviously new and very efficient, plenty of hot water and a useful heated towel rail. Slight drawbacks are only with access (narrow, wooden stairs), and the noise from those and in the daytime the shoemenders below our room. But these are minor matters. Not to be faulted is the location, just five minutes from the end of the street where coffee bars, restaurants, supermarkets and a selection of other shops, and the ever present awesome sight of the Eiffel Tower (a useful marker for locating the hotel). It's in a nice area, no concerns about safety (a police station opposite), and people in the lovely little shops and in the street were friendly and often ready to make conservation: and all the members of staff of the Amélie were unfailingly courteous and helpful.

We spent 6 nights at this hotel after reading reviews on tripadvisor. Most of the criticism here is about the size of the room. This was not an issue for us as when you are in Paris, you only need somewhere to sleep. I would also add that the room was actually reasonably sized, so not to sure what the complaints are.The hotel was fine for our needs (although there is no lift so ask for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor), it was a 15 minute walk to The Eiffel tower, close to Metro and RER stations and has great restaurants and boulangeries in the area. We would recommend buying wine and food from the local supermarket and heading to the Champ De Mars for wine and cheese at night, then a quiet Sancere or beer at any of the local bars.
Showers were good, fridge in the room( so we could keep some food in the room), staff friendly and area very safe at night. All in all an excellent cheap hotel in Paris (we paid 75 Euros a night, so do your research on the net).

The good: The room was clean and a little bigger than we thought it would be (for Paris). The bathroom looked recently redone and was actually very nice. The people at the front desk were very nice and helpful. They had free wireless internet which was great! This hotel is in a great location. It is within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower and there are a lot of shops, restuaurants and a Starbucks very close (Starbucks did not open until 7:30 AM though!) It is also very convenient to 2 major Metro stations.

The bad: When we were there it was incredibly hot and the hotel has no air conditioning! This is Europe though and not very many hotels have air conditioning, so I don't hold this against them. A fan would have been great though... It also could get a little noisy at night with the windows open, but I can't imagine anywhere in Paris is very quiet.

Overall, the hotel worked great for our purposes. It is in a great location and was a great price. We weren't in the room a whole lot, so the size wasn't a big deal. We would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Paris.

This is not a 5-Star hotel. Instead, it is a small hotel in a great location. The rooms were small (typical) but clean. It is steps away from Rue Saint-Dominique (and the #69 bus) and its stores. It is a short walk to two Metro stations (Tour de Malbourg and Invalides) and to Rue Cler and a number of good restaurants. You can walk to the Seine, the Eiffel Tower and the Musee d’Orsay from here. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

It has some downsides. There is no elevator so you have to climb stairs to the 3rd & 4th floors (suitcases can make this annoying). There is no air conditioning. The front rooms, over Rue Amalie, may get a little noisy at night.

It’s a great place if you’re a typical tourists who doesn’t plan on spending much time in your hotel but instead walking around Paris. Overall, my wife and I had a good experience and would come back again.

I was in paris for a quick weekend and was trying to cram in seeing as much as the sites as possible. This hotel is near the eiffel tower, but pretty far if you want to walk to the lourve, notre dame, latin quarter etc. It's possible, we did it, but worth saving time and getting on the bus system. It is very efficient, ask the front desk people and they will tell you exactly which lines to take. They are extremely helpful. Also, there is a WONDERFUL little pizza shop a few doors further down the street from hotel amelie. It's new I think, my boyfriend and I loved it! Great little bakeries around and big market a few streets down on Rue Cler on sunday morning/ afternoon.

Not flash by any means but lets face it, you don't go to Paris to sit in a hotel room, small, older, (being renovated) and clean, but you know what they say, location, location, location. Fabulously located next to everything you could need, 5 minit walk to Eiffel Tower, 2 minits to Metro and Taxi rank, the staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English, very safe feeling neighbourhood not to mention 50 feet down the road the most beautiful view of the Eifflel tower, Defiantely value for money....would stay again no hesitation
