The staff were friendly and helpful even though we can only speak English. The breakfast was more than expected, and the train station is nearby. The wifi is intermittent. Restaurants are nearby. It is an older budget hotel that is priced fairly.

Stayed one night with a friends because this friendly price for. The hotel is just OK and of course worthed with the budget price. Near by Metrostation of Barbés and only need to walk 2 minutes. The receptionist is the most friendly ever in the world hahahha we have left behind our luggages and we spent time to Trocadéro to see Eiffel tower.

We visited Hotel Altona while on family holiday and will regret it for a long time. The room we stayed in was dirty and infested with bed bugs. In the morning we woke up to discover the bugs crawling all over us the the kids. The bed sheets were all covered with blood and we realised that we were all badly bitten. We went downstairs to the reception to complain but the staff was rude and unhelpful. The receptionist asked me to show his the bite marks at the reception in front of other customers. We were so disgusted that we did not even want to stay for breakfast to which the receptionist just shrugged his shoulders and said: It is up to you. We asked to speak to a manager but were told there was no-one in charge because everyone was on holiday (it was August). We returned to London top discover after a few days that we had brought the bed bugs in our luggage and now we has a bed bug problem in our house. We spent lots of time, money and effort trying to get rid of the problem. I e-mailed the hotel a few times asking for a refund. Obviously there was no reply. I phoned a few times but most times was told that the manager was not available. Once I managed to speak to the manager who promised to investigate and contact me. He never did. I e-mailed again and finally got a written promise of a refund. The refund never arrived in my account. The last conversation I had with them was with one of the brothers who run the hotel and he kindly explained to me that I was not going to get my money back because the money was not mine in the first place. It was the hotel's. I was also told that I will not get a refund because I wrote a bad review on Tripadvisor which I hadn't at that point. After that conversation I looked at Tripadvisor's website and saw a few reviews mentioning the bed bugs. The hotel owners must have assuemd one of them was written by me. I warn anyone who is looking to book a night in this hotel. Stay away.

Our family of four stayed at this hotel three nights in August. The room was adequate and met our needs as a place to return to at the end of the day and get a good night's sleep. Comfortable beds. Fairly good amount of space to store our belongings. Clean bathroom and great shower. Delicious breakfast each morning - yummy croissants! Working wifi. And friendly and helpful front desk staff.

The only real drawback was the street seemed a bit questionable in terms of safety - at least at night, especially near the Barbes Rochechouart metro station just around the corner. Though we found the location convenient to navigate the city (due to proximity of the metro), after the first night's return to the hotel, we attempted to avoid later arrival times at that station. The first night there was a throng of males (pretty sure they were drinking) that were all around the exit at this station.

Also, it would have been nice to have had a fan in the room as there was no a/c. We ended up closing the windows partway and rigging up some chairs to jam them to make it feel a bit more secure, so we could get a bit of a breeze at night.

Overall, we had a good experience and would be comfortable suggesting this to family or friends as a consideration and would consider it if we were to ever make a return trip.

The Hotel was in a good location, within 5 minutes walking distance of Gare de Nord and 10 minutes to The Sacre Couer. Barbes Metro nearby. The area looks a bit rough but we never felt unsafe.
As for the Hotel well what could I say. It is dirty, dirty, dirty. Very run down. The rooms are small as is the bathroom. The decor needs updating. Lights in the room are very dim and there is no Aircon or fans. Some lights in the hall did not work which made it dark going to your room. They advertise toiletries which consisted of a sachet of bath gel and a bar of soap. Breakfast consisted of a choice of 3 cheap cereals, 1 croissant and one roll with marmalade, juice, tea or coffee. Not worth the 7euro charged. You can hear the people upstairs having a 'pee'.. I didn't even get into the bed not sure what I would find sleeping with me.
