My wife and I loved that the rooms were so tastefully decorated, and also very clean. The staff was very courteous and friendly. And the big umbrellas available to borrow were a nice touch and came in handy during our rainy first day. The location was perfect, close enough to the major attractions but still a little separated from the tourist madness. Yeah, the rooms are small, as other reviewers mention, but if you're not too obese and you're in Paris to check out the city and not stay in your room all day, you'll be fine ; )

I had chosen this hotel primarily because of its location in the 5th arrondissement, footwalk distance to key attractions (Notre Dame, Pantheon, Bd St. Michel/st. Germain etc.). Although I was prepared that rooms would be small (by prior reading here), the reality was even worse. Everything clean and neat, but the size of the room - and specifically the bathroom - is simply not made to accomodate average sized Europeans. And the vertically striped dark wallpaper didn't help either to make the room look bigger. Quality of bed, cleanliness, friendliness of the staff all OK, but I've learned to be careful with hotels using terms like "Design or Boutique Hotel" which at least in this case meant "neat, but tiny"

Charming, professional staff; quiet room; delicious, diverse breakfast; state of the art beds and bathroom; perfect location. We stayed for three weeks and have not one complaint. Can't wait to return!

The room here was tiny. It was so small it was almost a comedy. The bathroom was ridiculously small, with a shower you are unable to turn around in. The elevator holds two people, three if you’re hugging. It really is too small. The staff are okay, but when we asked for an extra pillow we were immediately told ‘no’, which seemed a little abrupt. The location is great, though, and the computer in the room is a nice touch. This would be better if you are travelling alone because there isn’t much room for two in the room!

Dear Guests,

Many thanks for your comments about your stay. We do have various types and sizes of rooms and advise you to book our Design Deluxe rooms offering a more comfortable space and larger bathroom with bathtub, plus an amazing view on the historic Sorbonne university building.

We are very sorry for what you describe as an unfriendly reply when you asked for extra pillows. We would like to present our sincere apologies and assure that we do indeed have extra pillows available if the four already present in your room are not sufficient for your comfort. We hope you will stay again with us in one of our comfortable Design Deluxe rooms.

Kind regards

It was my fisrt stay at this hotel and i was pleased with almost everything (minus the small room- wich i was told was an upgrade to a superior one and the fact that breakfast wasnțt included in the price of the room- having in mind that the rate could have easily included something for breakfast like coffee and a croissant). Big plus for the design, the staff and the mac in the room.
I'll might just come back to this hotel in case next time i visit Paris :)
I reccomend this hotel to those who want a nice hotel situated right in the center of the city, with easy access to every tourist attraction and who wants to experiment la vie boeheme in the Quartier Latin.

Room Tip: Don't go for an upgrade for wich you'll have to pay as all rooms on the floor are exactly th...

Small designed boutique hotel tucked away in the heart of Latin Quarter. The hotel is glam, chic & posh! I loved the design of this hotel. Hotel is directly across from University of Paris and is connected to INSEAD research centre. Neighbourhood is quiet yet just steps away from great cafe, and shopping. The easiest way to get around in Paris is bike. You'll be able to find bike rental on the same street, which is super convenient.

As a solo female traveller, hotel safety and convenience is always my main concern. My stay in Hotel de la Sorbonne was very comfortable.

- Walking distance to the Metro
- Surrounded by school (which is under surveillance) so you know it's a safe neighbourhood.
- Lots of cafe and great restaurants within 10 minutes walk radius. Which means I can have late dinner + some wine and still get home safe.
- My experience with the RER line from Gare du Nord was not the best. There are lots of surveyors and homeless people asking you questions and for $$ at Gare du Nord. The RER train I took was old, crowded with very bad air circulation. I ended up taking the taxi to Gare du Nord on my return trip. It might be a hit & miss with the train though.
- I have no problems with the regular metro line.
- Size of the room was perfect, it might be a bit small in North American standard, but it's got enough space for everything.

Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. My favourite thing about small boutique hotels is it's more personable. You get to know the concierge & vice versa.

Overall, a great experience!

Second stay at this very nice hotel. Service is so good and friendly. Breakfast is also very nice. The design, all over the hotel is simply beautiful. Great location in a nice neighbourhood with easy access to most turist-places. Will surely be back...
