“Lovely flat at the heart of the city”

I really couldn't fault this flat; it was well-maintained, clean and comfortable and had everything you could need for a short stay. The rooms were so well proportioned that I wish I could live there. It had exposed beams and sculpture decoration and was so full of character. Right next to the Centre Pompidou, you would expect the area to be noisy at night, but this wasn't the case - I couldn't believe how quiet it was, and the area felt safe (though I am a city dweller). The flat's owner, Berit, was lovely and helpful - she went through everything before she left, making sure the wifi and tv were working, and sent tips via email. She even arranged to meet us a little early, and because there was no one booked in straight after us, she let us leave our luggage there until it was time to catch our train. I would definitely stay here again!

“Fantastic location, large apartment, great place to stay”

Stayed as 2 adults, 2 kids (7 and 9) for 8 nights. Berit was fantastic and helpfully answered our questions and supplied information when asked.
Large apartment and living space. Sofa bed and bed were comfortable. Bathrooms were fine - 2 showers, one toilet. Kitchen was ok though we didn't cook. Washing machine worked well. Lighting in bedroom was a bit dark.
Location was great. Close to Pompidou and eating areas. Easy to walk to Notre Dame, river, shopping precincts and train stations. Supermarkets not far away so easy to bring supplies back.
Area is pretty hip - lots of activity around Pompidou and nearby restaurants. so people generally stay out late.

“Fabulous apartment in central Paris”
Reviewed August 30, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This spacious 1 bedroom apartment has so much going for it that is excellent value for money for any individual or small group or family looking for a central location for residence in Paris.

1. Steps away from the Centre Pompidou esplanade, a couple of minutes walk from a metro station, about 7-8 mins walk to the river and Ile de la Cite, about 5 mins walk to Les Halles, 20 mins walk to Place des Vosges and a little farther to the Bastille.
2. Located in the middle of cheerful and bustling street life with cafes and shops around, but when the windows are closed there are no noises intruding in the flat. We slept very well. Being mins away from the quaint twisting lanes of the Marais, we had some very good dining experiences. Search out the tiny St Catherine's square - off the beaten track - for the restaurants surrounding it!
3. A lovely spacious living area with lots of light, wall sculptures (which lend the place real character), a small bar area and a modern & thoughtfully stocked kitchenette. There was WiFi, a TV and DVD player (which we didn't use). The bedroom has a bed that is very large by Parisian standards and ample cupboard space. There is a single bathroom but the fact that the washbasin and a bath tub are separated from the WC+shower stall area allowed our family of 4 to get ready in the mornings without the heated arguments usual for us in hotel rooms!
4. Located up a small flight of stairs on the 1st floor, so no extensive flights of stairs to climb.
5. Berit is a friendly and helpful hostess (we didn't get to meet her as she was away on vacation but she got her housekeeper to hand over the flat key on our arrival). She was consistently prompt with her replies to our emails.

Our 16 and 11 year old sons shared the sofa bed in the living room and slept very well. However the sofa bed size is not large and I would say that if one or both of them had been older or larger they would have found the bed cramped.

On the whole the apartment was the key to a wonderful vacation that our family had in Paris. It will definitely be on the top of our list if we visit Paris again.

“Absolutely Faabulous”

The apartment is in a perfect location to all amenities and nightlife in the Marais, literally around the corner from the Pompidou centre. You can open the French doors to let the ambiance filter through, sit on the window seat and watch the world go by. But once you close the windows, you can hear a pin drop. The very large bedroom is at the back of the apartment with the bathroom behind with a large bath. There is also a separate shower and toilet in an adjoining room. The wardrobe needs a little TLC as the hinges are not really that strong.
Do not get disappointed when you go through the main entrance and find a dusty and peeling plaster around the stairwell - it is in need of total revamp which I am sure will happen in the near future. Being on the first floor was a bonus as there is no lift.
We were very happy staying there and would highly recommend it to anyone.

“Excellent Location, Beautiful Living Area”
Reviewed November 5, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

The owner of this building went out of her way to facilitate our stay. The apartment is in a beautiful old Paris building metres from the Pompidou Centre in the heart of the Marias. Nearby is the church of St. Merri, which was a pivotal barricade point in the 'Les Miserables' street revolts of 1832. Historic, arty, and interesting neighbourhood. Magnificent high ceiling and plaster freizes above the fire place in the spacious, well lit living room. Large quiet, bedroom and good bathroom facilities despite an awkward layout. The lounges / sofa chairs are not as generous or as comfortable as the living area. The kitchen is very well equipped, but the water damaged floor in the kitchen (loose tiles) and the obviously ("soon to be repaired") rotting floorboards in the walkway from kitchen to bedroom detract from the luxury feel. The apartment has a TV and DVD player. For non English speaking guests there is little to find to watch on French Pay TV. A selection of DVD's would enhance the stay. As would larger, more luxurious towels in the bathroom. The dark and unwelcoming entry and staircase do not make a good first impression.

“Fantastic apartment in the Marais”

The apartment is on the 1st floor above a picturesque pedestrian street. At one end of the street is St. Merri church with the oldest bell in Paris and on the other end is the Pompidou Center. The apartment itself is comfortable and quiet. We slept like babies here after exhausting ourselves from Paris sightseeing. There are many interesting shops and good places to eat within easy walking distance as well as the Metro and bus stops. Berit, the owner, met us at the apartment and answered all of our questions about the appliances and the neighborhood. She said to contact her anytime if we needed to, which we didn't. After staying in this apartment, we can't imagine staying anywhere else when in Paris.
