This place is not for people expecting luxury. It's a very charming, local, neighborhoody place - there are few tourists around and if you speak French, you will be very welcome not only by the staff but everyone in the neighborhood. It's a good way to see the real Paris. It's in the 13eme, and a stone's throw from the Chinatown/Vietnamese restaurants and neighborhood, a nice big park where the locals jog and walk their dogs, and there is a busy street with typical bistros, cafes, supermarkets, pharmacies, you name it. The Metro station is right there which is great if you still want to see touristy attractions. The Wifi is not reliable at this hotel, so the staff directed me to the free Wifi at the McDonald's cafe nearby which is excellent (the cafe is luxurious by US standards, check it out!). Rooms are small, basic, clean, don't expect amenities for the low price! Shared bathrooms are clean. Safe for women.

Hôtel des Beaux-Arts' facade is beautiful and very French, but the interior of the hotel is opposite to the outside: the rooms are small, without air conditioning and with very uncomfortable bed and pillow. The bathroom was added to the room, was tiny and almost impossible to use without an accident. One of the female receptionist is very unfriendly, unavailable to help and noisy. On the penultimate day of my stay I found that someone spent all my (French!!) perfume (Coco Chanel) that I had left in the bathroom (something like that never happened to me in all the hotels I have been around the world).
For all these reasons, a hotel that was reasonably cheap ended up very expensive and spoil my stay.
