“Terrific apartment - great location”
Reviewed January 17, 2014 for a stay in December 2013

Upsides are:
1. This apartment was in a great position: Bustling Parisian market street; great cafes; small supermarket, fruit shop bakery, and butcher all directly opposite (literally across the street); Seine and Metro a short walk away. Brilliant. Fabulous. Terrific. Great. Fantastic!
2. The apartment is well appointed: The kitchen was really well kitted with excellent quality crockery, cutlery, glassware, etc.
3. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was good quality.
4. The heating was excellent and easy to use.
5. The apartment is nicely decorated, so an easy space to be in.
6. The apartment is nice and big, given it is only a one-bedroom place. This was a great thing for us, as we were travelling with two children, so at the end of the day, we weren't all cooped up in a small room.

Downsides could be:
1. This is a third-floor apartment with a broad spiral staircase (i.e. not a tight spiral), which some might find a problem. We didn't particularly, although getting in and out with luggage is not very easy. Access to this apartment could certainly be a problem for people with mobility issues. There is no lift.
2. The bunks in the lounge, while large and with a handy shelf and light inside for each, are what the listing says... beds in a cupboard/closet. I felt the top bunk was too high to not have a safety rail, so we moved the mattress to the floor each night and our daughter slept on the floor, while our son happily slept on the bottom bunk. If the owners were to put in or provide a safety rail to be slotted in on the top bunk, I think that would be a good thing.
3. The washing machine is good but the dryer takes aaaaaaages to dry clothes. It would be handy to have a folding washing rack to dry clothes.
We would definitely rent this apartment again and I would recommend it to friends and family.

“Perfectly located in the Sixth Arrondissement”

The location of this apartment can't be beat, if you love the 6th arrondissement of Paris,as we do. This section of Rue de Buci is pedestrian-only--good to know if you call a cab or airport shuttle. They won't be able to pull right up front to that address, so use the Hotel de Buci (a bit further down the street--less than one minute walk) as a pick up point..

The flat is exactly as pictured in the photos. Big, airy, and light living /dining/kitchen area--even more spacious than it appears in photos. The new windows kept the noise out and when shut, the flat was completely quiet, except one night with an exceptionally loud rock n' roll mini-festival going on in the street below! And even those sounds were well-muffled.

The bedroom and bathroom are lovely and modern--big bathroom, comfortable Queen bed. The drapery kept the bedroom dark, if you need to sleep in. We LOVED the interior of this apt, for two people.

A few reservations which prevent recommending it 100% wholeheartedly:

It is listed as a "luxury" rental. However, the inner hallway/staricase of the bldg itself are grimy and shabby. There is no elevator. There is NO air-conditioning. Nearly every other "luxury" property i've checked from other companies, includes ac for the often hot Parisian summers. This could be a problem in hot weather, if you want to open windows for some air. However, since windows were excellent at soundproofing, perhaps they are equally good at not letting the heat in. There are some electric fans available too.

We were two people, so didnt use the bunkbeds in the living room closet. Just be aware, if you need to use them, that is exactly what they are : bunk beds in a small closet.

The inner courtyard of the apt building usually was filled with odors of frying Asian food. The ground floor/street level of the building is a Chinese traiteur and the family lives (and i am guessing, cooks) in the flat just above it. So when we opened the bathroom or bedroom windows in the morning, strong cooking aromas rose up. Bonjour!

All in all, we enjoyed our stay, and realize it's a better value than most nearby hotels. The location cannot be beat, if you want to be in the midst of the Left Bank's fun and liveliness.

“Beautiful Modern Apartment in St. Germain”
Reviewed October 13, 2010 for a stay in September 2010

We just came back from a week in Paris and staying at #235. It is located in a great location and is a wonderful apartment. Vacation in Paris did us a really great favor by placing us here. The photos above are not fudged at all. it really is that nice inside the apartment. The main bedroom and the kitchen have organized shelving units to store away a lot of stuff. The second bedroom with bunk beds is a bit small but it has a desk light and a built in bookcase in it for a little storage. The kitchen is very big and efficient. The stove needs the instructions to use if you are not used to that type of flat top stove. The bathroom is great, huge by European hotel and apartment standards. Note to Americans who need sheets to sleep, they do have sheets along with puffs on all the beds. The apartment manager was very good and informative about the area. There are leftover Paris tourists books in the desk.

The area is mostly quiet and there are Great Bistros that are open and serving outside of the usual European times all along the street. There is a big Carrefour Market for food supplies, 2 ice cream shops, and a Vegetable and Fruit stand along this street and across the way. This helps if you are trying to save money for the tourist stuff. If you stay here I would suggest going to the Vietnamese place downstairs and the Thai-Vietnamese-Chinese restaurant, La Muraille de Jade, it is on the way to the Odeon Metro on 5, rue de l'Ancienne Comedie. There is Wifi in the apartment. Once you get that really long wifi code in and submitted on your iphone or Ipad, etc. your wifi are good for the whole stay and all around the apartment.

Small Negatives: If you are a grownup sleeping in the second small bunkroom, I would leave the doors open at night. There was some noise on Friday and Saturday nights due to a bar close by and some sports event. Trash men come around 6-6:30am on Sunday so there all the trashcans are out on the street. The apartment is on the 4th floor (US) and you have to use a small spiral staircase to get up and down so I would not recommend it to people with limited mobility. We did not try the washer/dryer combined machine because it takes about 4 hours. There are only about 5 TV channels in English and they are all 24 hour news stations.

For Paris: If you like music and love cathedrals check on-line to see if there is a concert at St. Chapelle near Notre Dame De Paris. We saw a quintet playing Vivaldi, Pachelbel and Vitale there in the Chapel for an hour. It is a great memory to take away from Paris. Don't miss the Eiffel but get tickets online first, the lines are hideous and hawkers abound. Another thing not to miss is the Medici Treasures at the Musee du Maillol near Rue De Bac metro and Monet's Water Lillies in the Musee De L'Orangerie near the Louvre (They used to be at NY's MOMA). It is worth the trip but again I would get a reservation. The Louvre has electronic tickets kiosks to avoid the lines. For Versaille, I suggest getting tickets ahead of time or face 1-2 hour lines, Last English tour is at 2:15pm on Saturdays so check ahead.
