Stayed for one night prior to an early flight home. Easily found and ideal for airport being only 15 mins away. Apartment well appointed. Immaculate and comfortable.Easy walk to old town. Area itself seemed a little rough so avoid walking late at night.

We rented a 2 bedroom unit which had a full kitchen & dining- the facilities were basic, but all that we needed. the staff were friendly & the hotel is a short 10 minute walk to the Castle- upon checking out they were fine about us leaving our car in their car park, while we spent the morning exploring. All in all was great value for money. They also have a share laundry which was very handy.

Dear Donski2016,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay at CERISE Carcassonne Sud. We know that it is important for our guests to visit one last time the Cite before they leave so we allow them to leave their car on our parking even after check-out. We look forward to welcoming you again at the bottom of the Cite.

Best Regards.

The hotel does not have a great appearance except for the reception building. However the apartment was huge, clean and towels changed daily. Great location for the cite but not so great around about to the left!
All the staff were friendly and breakfast was fresh, constantly replenished and more than adequate!

The Cerise Carcassonne Sud is just 10 minutes stroll from the old City. I had a "studio apartment" which was large and clean, with a comfy bed, fresh towels each day, tv and equipped kitchenette, which contained all you'd need. Also had air conditioning.
There is a large car park and the hotel, really a motel as there's no lounge/bar, consists of 3 buildings; one with reception/breakfast room, and two with accommodation. I was in the St Saens block, which is away from the Avenue du General Leclerc. Security is good with a code number needed to open the perimeter gate when reception is not manned. In places the hotel could do with a bit of a refresh but for the price there was nothing that would put me off.
There is a small, heated, indoor swimming pool, which I used a couple of times and was clean and well maintained.
Breakfast was good and consisted of croissants, pains aux chocolates, bread, cereal, yogurt, coffee, juice - more than adequate and restocked.
All in all good value for money and a very comfortable stay in this beautiful region.

Room Tip: Rooms in the St Saens block are away from the main road.

We stayed at the Cerise Carcassonne Sud at the end of September for a few days. It was our first time staying at this place as we'd booked it on a whim to try and save some money. (The last time I visited Carcassonne, we stayed at the more upmarket 'Hotel Du Chateau'). The two hotels can't really be compared so I'm just going to do a 'Good' & 'Not So Good' list.

Here are the following Good points regarding our stay at the Cerise Sud:

LOCATION: just a 5-10 minute walk from the Cite De Carcassone (Fortress) so not a bad location at all. We walked to Carcassonne new town which took us 25 minutes (we stopped a lot to look at the views).
The hotel is also approximately a 15-20 minute drive from Carcassonne airport which costs around €20 euros in a taxi.

ROOM SIZE: A great sized room. We had a decent sized bedroom (although the bed was a tad hard to what we're used to). There is a separate kitchen/dining area which was laid out well and also included a decent sized sofa bed.

The bath room was decent sized, with its own hairdryer. The bath was big (I'm 6ft) although slow to fill. The toilet is in a separate little room to the bathroom and was located to the right upon entering the room.

The kitchen had a coffee machine, a kettle, microwave, washing machine and a fridge. It also came equipped with plates, cutlery, cups and glasses.

STORAGE SPACE: Ample storage space around the rooms for suitcases and clothing. We had a large built in wardrobe as well as 4 large spacious built in shelves in the bedroom. There were also other cupboards for storage too.

BALCONY: Balcony was a great addition, although our view was of some houses, the houses were quite cute so it could have been much worse!

LOCALITY: Surrounded by corner shops and pharmacies (turn left on to the main road). Also there's a large supermarket (Lidl) about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Just turn right on to the main road and walk till you reach a retail park, next to a roundabout. We bought all our breakfast and lunch items from there to save money, then ate out on an evening in the fortress.

FACILITIES: The hotel has a clean indoor pool which wasn't busy. There was also a small clean sauna. Which could fit 4 in easily.

Not So Good :

Having to wait to check in so late. Check in was at 4pm so half the day is gone already. It's the first time we'd experienced this with a hotel so it threw us a little. We didn't have a car so we arrived at 1pm, deliriously unaware that we wouldn't be able to check in for another 3 hours. The reception building was confusing and it was locked on our arrival. We had nowhere to store our luggage so we couldn't go anywhere. Luckily two of the staff members had been out for lunch and spotted us and put our luggage in to storage. They saved it until 4pm for us so we went out for a wander around the fortress until check in.

Pool doesn't open till 10am and closes at 7pm. The timings for check in and check out arent like all the other hotels I've stayed in, with check in at 4pm and check out at 10am.

No frills, basic furniture/average furnishings. Pretty much IKEA in appearance/design.

Summary:

Overall it's not a bad place for the price, and is pretty close to the Cité De Carcassonne so is ideal for anyone not wanting to walk too far. It's quite roomy for a small family and easy to access too. I'd definitely stay again.
