Our room was extremely spacious, with charming french decor and very clean (cotton wool buds in the bathroom a nice touch!). Delphine and her mother Nicole are delightful and welcoming hosts and the breakfast was fantastic. The pain perdú (french toast) was sublime. I´ve never tasted anything quite like it. Home made conserves (incl orange marmalade) were delicious. I wish we had chosen to have dinner there as well. Seems like a good excuse to go back again! Can´t think of any reason not to recommend this property. Great value for money.

Room Tip: Wifi only works in the lounge, not the bedrooms. Remember: when it´s time to pay, they don´t accept...

This is a small, charming hotel with lots of character about 7-8 minutes by car from medieval city of Carcassonne. The bedroom was large and comfortable, not by modern sterile hotel standards, but with charm and unique country decor. Modernised bathroom. There is a lovely garden and swimming pool for guests, and best of all: the most delicious and generous breakfast with everything the French cuisine can offer, including cakes and baked goods. The owner and her mother are very welcoming

Room Tip: Wi-fi didn't work well in our bedroom . But it was nice to be in a private corner of the house...

Four of us, 2 couples, stayed in Maison Sur la Colline for one week in May. It really is a fabulous ‘house on the hill’. Great value. Have tried to load pics. All these are of the house outside, or location close to house/short walk away, and Limoux.

The house and gardens are immaculate and have all the amenities we could have asked for. From the pool terrace it’s a fab spot to watch the sun go down behind the stunningly beautiful hills and vineyards beyond. The baker calls on his round at around 1pm, and the charming church clock chimes most daytime hours. Small interesting hamlet built around the central church. Parking is easy, either at the front door, or in the lockable courtyard at the back, [see pics] could accommodate 2 cars easily. Very safe area.

Carcassonne airport and famous walled city of Carcassonne - 25 minutes away. [Other airports are Toulouse, one hour, Limoges, Bezier, Perpignan]. Pyrenees [Andorra] and Barcelona are 3 hours drive, we planned trips there but didn’t go in the end, had we been over for 2 weeks rather than one, we would have! Definitely for next time!

We found an amazing ‘artists walk’ 2 minutes from the house, alongside vineyards with some standalone outdoor artwork, intriguing! There are loads of interesting villages such as Minerve 1 hour north, [driving past Carcassonne], and there is Mirepoix 30 minutes drive, where the medieval houses are all made of timber. We did wine tasting at Sieur D’Arques in Limoux, and bought bargain boxes of Premiere Bulle white fizz [bright pink foil]! There’s lots of wine tasting houses in the area. We went through the Corbières massif to Lagrasse which is an incredibly old, medieval, stunning village. And of course an amazing day in Carcassone old town, cant be missed, so near to the house.

Limoux is only 3 minutes away [by car- we walked 20 minutes] with several supermarkets, loads of beautiful and unusual shops, very French, charming, with a large village square, excellent restaurants/bars. Locals are delightfully friendly and cheerful. It’s a quiet peaceful place.

House info – Great wifi speed. Large kitchen, lovely family size table, large fridge freezer. Lots of the usual equipment, plus useful extras like veg steamer, coffee maker, kettle, lots of pans and crockery/cutlery. 2 comfortable sofas and British TV/Sky. Pool table in the basement and sofa plus a basement [third] WC with a bath. This room has the front door in it with views over the countryside, and outside the front door is a well-tended garden in red white and blue for the village war memorial. What a bonus!
2 double bedrooms on top floor with all new, lovely ensuites, efficient hot water. The mattress, duvets and linens are really comfortable. The rooms have a velux window and a small outside wall window.

The house estate has lots of sunshine areas, plenty of furniture – theres shade too under the trees, or a wooden canopy by the pool, pool side has new zero gravity sunbeds, and theres space and furniture also by the kitchen door/courtyard. We played boules on the spaces outside the front door, overlooking a panorama of hills and countryside! We’ll be back!!

Room Tip: its not a hotel its a house rent

On an unseasonably wet day we were made very welcome by our host Delphine. We had been upgraded free of charge to a suite in this unique and historic home just a short walk from the Cité of carcassonne. Our room was chic in the beautiful French way and decorated with antiques and brocante finds. We were welcomed and Delphine insisted that we made ourselves at home. Breakfast was an array of French pastries and home made delights in a bohemian style dining room. In better weather you can eat on the terrace. We were passing through so only stayed one night but this is the place to stay when in carcassonne for a unique stay rather than in a commercial hotel.

The B&B is a pretty house with lovely gardens and pool located just 2 miles or so from Carcassone's walls - the fortress town is breathtaking lit up as one drives to the city at night. Rooms are all differently sized and organized - ours had a ground floor entrance, but required three flights of stairs to get to the breakfast room. Not for the unsteady. Except for breakfast (ours was splendid served family style on one big table for all the guests), the proprietress - now getting on in years - is lovely, chatty, but not able to do all that she might have done in the past. Recommend you have some French if you stay here. The advantages? Location! Carcassone is virtually Disneyland, rebuilt from rubble in the 19th Cent, beautiful reproduction but overrun with tourists. Local hotels are unattractive. This is a good bet if you don't want to be ripped off in this tourist center.

We really didn't know what we were going to find as the hotel didn't register on the sat nav! We were warmly welcomed by Delphine who showed us our extraordinary bedroom....the place is stuffed full of bric-à-brac ..this place is not for the precious! The setting and gardens are simply delightful and the pool was very welcome as we arrived when it was very hot. A short drive into Carcassonne allowed us to meander through this historical city. Breakfast was sensational...homemade cakes, jams, tarts and so generous. I don't know what the other rooms are like but this is the most lovely B & B( as Delphine pointed out to us...' This is my home, not a hotel!' to stopover.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for the Blue room...it has the most enormous bathroom

Absolutely loved this b & b and would thoroughly recommend it. Delphine and her mother are extremely welcoming and their home is beautiful. You can probably walk to the cite in about twenty minutes but is only a few minutes away in a car. There are numerous restaurants in the cite but I understand from people staying there that you can order a meal (giving 48 hours notice) and the food is wonderful. Everything for breakfast is homemade and there is a very large choice.

We stayed in the blue room, which is a very good sized room with an adjoining bathroom. It is very traditional French and because of this loved it even more.

We will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: Didn't see any of the other rooms but loved the blue room.
