We enjoyed our stay for 2 nights at this bed and breakfast within the walls of Carcassonne. The manager picked us up from just outside the city, provided access to free parking, and drove us up the long cobblestone road so we wouldn't have to drag out bags. The breakfast was included in the price and excellent each morning.

First off, the hostess Jacqui was in excellent touch with me throughout, especially guiding me to the hotel and assisting with parking the first night.

The size of the room was fine, considering that the building is hundreds of years old, you make do with what is already there. The room was well appointed with a separate shower.bathroom that was quite large. The property was spotless.

I modest continental breakfast was served, nothing noteworthy but certainly sufficient considering the hotel rate.

The location is fabulous, no matter which direction you walk, you are a couple of minutes away from restaurant or shopping area or medieval site.

Had postponed a to Carcassonne here several years ago, and was happy to finally get here this fall. The owners are friendly and helpful (even drove us back to our car and helped us move to the "free" lot outside the walls), and provided dinner recommendations. Once the bulk of the tourists leave at the end of the day, it's very worthwhile to be inside the walls of the city, and this spot is ideal and a quick walk from all the charm an evening in Carcassonne can provide.

More than anything, I wanted to stay within the medieval walls of Carcassonne and watch sunsets and sunrise from the ramparts as I had done many years ago and imagine myself in another time and place. L’Echappee Belle was the most reasonably-priced establishment that we could find to do that. We enjoyed the view of the Basilica out our window and the very nice hosts who picked up my husband and our baggage in the parking lot and “drove” into La Cite to drop him off (visualize car on tiny streets). We also enjoyed interacting with their sweet pets. The room was a bit small but comfortable, and the bathroom was nice.
We had a little difficult time contacting the hosts at first to arrange free parking outside the walls, so call them early to let them know when you will arrive.

We stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it! We had a downstairs room which was small but totally adequate, clean, comfortable and had a pretty view of the garden. We had bottles of water provided and a kettle with tea etc. Location wise it is absolutely perfect and a minutes walk from everything. The lovely lady proprietor could not be more friendly, welcoming and helpful. Parking is free through the B&B and a five minute walk away. And to top it all off....they have the most beautiful toy poodle in the world and a beautiful cat. We ate so late at night that we didn’t want breakfast but it looked delicious and we were kindly allowed to take croissants with us for our journey to the airport. Wonderful place within the city walls. WE LOVED IT. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Love to loulou xxxx

Stayed here for two nights in July, was particularly disappointed with the breakfast as we had heard it was of a high standard, i would recommend they add some fruit and some fresh orange juice to the menu as bread rolls and croissants dont suit everyone.
The room we stayed in was very clean and comfortable but would benefit from a little updating, also the garden was off limits as it was infested with ants.
Saying all that our hosts were very friendly and helpful and the communal breakfast is a great idea.

Hello and thank you for your review.

Regarding your comments about the breakfast - there is always orange juice on the table for breakfast, along with croissants. bread and jams, sweet pastries, cereal, yoghurt and cheese. I have tried offering fresh fruit to my guests but it was not eaten, therefore I stopped serving it . I believe we do offer more than the average French B&B, where the norm would be only bread and/or croissants.

Your room was redecorated very recently, albeit not in a modern style, as we felt this would be out of character for a medieval house. We were not aware that the garden was "infested" with ants.

We did want to be in the middle of walled city and this place had decent reviews and availability. The hike with our luggage to get there was no easy feat (hard to find) and the rooms were really small and a little tired looking. Luckily we only stayed there one night and the room served it purpose. We enjoyed the little town thoroughly.
