Found this restaurant as I left the market and headed towards the cathedral. Peeked in and saw it looked smart and seemed to have an outdoor terrace although no customers inside. The board outside had that day's lunch menu for €15, all of which looked terrific so made a note and went off to see the Pont Vieux. Returned an hour later and found the local lunch crowd had taken over the terrace that has a great view of the cathedral and Toulouse-Lautrec museum in the old bishop's palace. Luckily one spot was open right at the edge of the terrace and I had a glorious set menu of tomato stuffed with herbed cheese, veal on a bed of julienned courgettes and smashed potatoes followed by roasted pineapple in a mango sauce. In France for five weeks and this Michelin rated restaurant beat anything in Paris for this price!!
No requirement to hurry so they could turn tables - relaxed and tasteful atmosphere. On the way out I wanted to linger and watch the chefs in the open kitchen and wished I had longer to come back for dinner.
