We had dinner for two at Le Bistrot.

The owner ( maître’d and head waiter) could not have been more welcoming. He explained every dish in some detail to us non French speakers, and his passion was obvious. He strongly recommended we try the foie gras, which was cooked to order which he assured us was a local specialty— it was terrific. We also had a dish of baby squid, and then for mains had a steak and a different squid dish. The menu had a choice of 4 entrees and four mains, and we only regretted we couldn’t try more,

We also asked for advice on the wine choice, and really enjoyed the locally sourced ( 40 kms away) dry white.

The background music was quiet jazz, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant and relaxed (seats about 25 people)

The only thing that stops us giving a 5 star rating was our belief the food was over salted— the chef seemed to have had a heavy hand on the salt grinder this night.

The bill totalled 80 euro, which we thought was good value. We did not have deserts by the way because the serves were so generous— we had already eaten all we could.

Very nice pan fry Foie Gras, friendly service, good location and atmosphere.

Avoid ordering beef!! Beef quality is chewy with lots of tendon. Cooked rare inside but crisp outside, beef is not not their specialty

Dessert, chocolate cake was ok not delicious delicious

My wife found this restaurant courtesy of TA and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The reception Alexi gave us when we went in to book set the tone for dinner the following evening - first class! He is so welcoming and as pointed out by others he takes as much time as YOU need to understand the menu and answers any question with assurance and confidence on his offer.
The menu is not extensive but offered a variety of choices to suite most palates. My wife and I had fresh foie gras to start, I had scallops and my wife an entrecôte steak for mains. Each dish was delicious. The wine was excellent and the meal was rounded off with coffee and a complimentary Armagnac. About €100 all in - excellent value.
Finally, the background music helped to provide a restful and pleasing ambiance.
In all, a small and excellent Bistro well worth a visit - we will certainly return next time we go to Toulouse! Well done Alexi!

Le Bistro Restaurant
4 Place De Damloup
31000 Toulouse

Probably one of our best experience so far.
The waiter and owner Alexi made our dining experience the best possible could be.
He was very welcoming and attentive.
He really knows how to give customers an incredible journey through food and drinks.
He explained everything in excitingly great detail.
From the Duck skin nibbles as freebie to the very last glass of wine.
The main was Sole with grilled peppers and black rice cooked to perfection.
The Pavlova dessert was super smooth and crunchy with the freshest raspberries. Not too sweet and perfectly creamy from the inside.
Most of all we learnt a lot about the local wines and the Local Grape and the area where they came from like Mauzac and Colombard.
Our wine was Chateau Clement Termes
Gaillac which accompanied our food superbly which he recommended. Usually a waiter would encourage you to get the most expensive wines on their list but this one cost only €20.
He explained in detail some of the wines we had and also gave us a tasting experience of another. Truly amazing!
Our bill came down to €70 for 2 people which wasn’t bad at all.
Amazing food and excellent service.
Best experience ever!!!!
