We had dinner for two at Le Bistrot.
The owner ( maître’d and head waiter) could not have been more welcoming. He explained every dish in some detail to us non French speakers, and his passion was obvious. He strongly recommended we try the foie gras, which was cooked to order which he assured us was a local specialty— it was terrific. We also had a dish of baby squid, and then for mains had a steak and a different squid dish. The menu had a choice of 4 entrees and four mains, and we only regretted we couldn’t try more,
We also asked for advice on the wine choice, and really enjoyed the locally sourced ( 40 kms away) dry white.
The background music was quiet jazz, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant and relaxed (seats about 25 people)
The only thing that stops us giving a 5 star rating was our belief the food was over salted— the chef seemed to have had a heavy hand on the salt grinder this night.
The bill totalled 80 euro, which we thought was good value. We did not have deserts by the way because the serves were so generous— we had already eaten all we could.
