The leek and shelled mussels (moules decortiquees) casserole is very good.
The place is traditional, simple, lively, friendly . The owner is very welcoming and makes it an evening to remember. Well worth a visit - oh, and excellent value.

Had to come back after such a lovely experience a few years ago. Decor had changed but ambience just as lovely. Duck and steak both delicious. Chocolate mousse heavenly. My daughter had a sore throat and the owner brought us free drinks after our meal in an effort to cure her throat and when no taxi was available soon to take us back to our hotel as she felt too grotty to walk his charming son fetched his car and took us home !! You could not beat such exceptional service and we will definitely return again :)

We went to this restaurant because it was the only open one that we found. It was a very good surprise. The owner is an experience by itself, he is very friendly and funny. On the food, the food is very good and it's typical flemish food. French prices although...

Went here on the info from a nearby Hotel and was was just a fantastic experience. Traditional old French Bistro with about 40 seats we got the last table for two and ate some fantastic food earthy coarse pate, silky oily salads great bread. Mains were roasted lamb and good steak but lots of casseroles and fish with good veg and potatoes. The staff sang along to the buzzing Parisien style music and as the night wore on everyone statred joining in and eventually dancing between the tables. A couple of bottles of the Crozire Hermitage which was on special promotion saw us part with 90 euro all in. But what a fun impromtu night.

We had a lovely meal at Aux Bouchees Doubles last week. (We had actually booked Le Petit Table just along the road but there was not a single soul in there so we called our hotel and asked them to cancel the reservation for us - our French wasn't up to that!). ABD was packed with just 2 small tables left. We arrived at 10.15 pm and I had the duck with figs and honey, which was a huge breast like a giant 'duck steak', Lovely fries and my cousin who was with me had steak which was also lovely. We had a pitcher of house red which was nice wine, at the end of the evening they brought us a large glass of 'posh' wine on the house. I had cheese for desssert which was enough cheese to feed a family for a week. Delicious. My cousin had creme brulee which was good too.

The rest of the people in the restaurant seemed to be locals. The evenings music was very entertaining 80's and 90's English which the waiters and guests joined in with delightful french accents. However it was only when the French pop music came on later that the whole restaurant (apart from us obviously) burst into song!

The following evening we walked past the restaurant on our way home and one of the witers was outside - we were greeted like long lost friends and invited in for bubbly on the house - what a treat!

All in all a Bistro not to be missed. I would say it was the highlight of our fantastic weekend in Lille!
