Owner description: Situated near the British Military Cemetery of Bayeux, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy narrates the battles which took place in Normandy after the D-Day landings, between 7th June and 29th August 1944. The collections of military equipment, the diorama and the archival films allow the visitor to grasp the enormous effort made during this decisive battle in order to restore peace in Europe.

This Museum is absolutely fabulous to tour! The exhibits are very well spaced and have both audio and some video as well. Don't forget to tour the bottom floor as it contains some of the larger pieces such as tanks, trucks and rocket launchers. Very well laid out and impressive!

It encompasses several buildings - land force, air power, and naval. A lot of really interesting war artifacts layed out in very realistic settings. A must for anyone interested in D-Day

Or so my wife said to me, and I think she's right. It's also more of an older person thing. It's a good presentation of all the leases and events in the early stages of the D Day landing. Some interesting displays and artefacts. It's easily walkable if you are staying in town

Well laid out and informative. Takes you through D-Day landings until the conclusion of the war in France. Excellent signage in English and comprehensive displays. Friends of ours took a tour to the Normandy beaches while we opted for the museum. Comparing notes afterwards, all felt we made the better choice with the museum.

One thing we found fascinating was the very clear explanations of matters other than on the battlefield. For example, nursing, engineering, supply chain, and transport were all very well covered.

Afterwards, go to the nearby Commonwealth War Cemetery nearby. You will leave with a better understanding of the sacrifices young men and women of that generation made on our behalf.

This is a must do if you care for our history and what your fore-fathers did for you

We enjoyed this museum up to a point but it is the old type of museum where you read the caption under the picture and then move on, not sure if you are going in the right direction. After a while it all gets overwhelming and you can't absorb anything more and you are hoping the end is soon. The movie at the end is a welcome relief from the reading. I learned some things and have some good visual
Images of the war (now I know what the battle of hedgerows looked like) but it wasn't a knock my socks off experience.
