“good 2 week stay”
Reviewed 30 December 2011

I stayed here for business for 2 weeks. The hotel was clean and modern. Staff was very helpful. The room was a bit small but clean and well presented.
The only points which could have been better were

1. wii-fi internet was allocated in data limited sessions with new passwords for each session. This meant that if you need to skype someone for a few hours, you may need to interrupt the session every 30-40mins to reconnect to the internet with a new password.
2. the breakfast was a bit expensive given what was on offer.

Caen is a beautiful city with a strong historical significance. William the Conquerer loved this city and built an Abbey for Men and Women as well as the Norman Castle in the centre of the city. There was a fantastic pedestrian shopping area and some cool cafes and restaurants everywhere

We loved our visit to this hotel. The guy on reception was so informative, kind, considerate and professional. He made the visit perfect and very cool. We needed TLC having driven half way across France with a 5 month old baby! Our only regret is that we didn't stay for two night to relax some more before catching the ferry.

Stayed 14 & 15th September. To start with if you're travelling by car this hotel is not easy to find, even with a satnav. It's a maze of one way and pedestrianised streets, thankfully we came across it by luck rather than satnav or judgement. Car park is underground, it doesn't belong to the hotel but is vitually connected by an entrance to the car park lift. There area is frequented by local down and outs who hang around the covered cycle area next to the hotel entrance. Check in and check out was fine. Breakfast varied and ample for continental style. we were allocated room 215, which faces onto the street aspect of the building, this proved to be a significant issue for us. On the first night we were kept awake well past 3:30am by loud talking and shouting outside, we think this came from the down and outs. On the second night we were kept awake virtually all night by large groups of people hanging around outside a local bar, the noise was incessant. Although the hotel has it's advantages being centrally located, this is outweighed by the dissadvantages.
We haved stayed at several Ibis Hotels and this was by far the scruffiest and is in need of a thorough re-fit. Our room did not have all the facilities as advertised, when we realised there was no hairdryer, I went to reception, where there was another guest with dripping hair asking for the same. There was only one spare available at reception, so we missed out.
On a positive note, we were presently surprised by Caen itself. Plenty of bars and resturants (for use at a reasonable hour !!), we especially liked the 'Old Quarter' (about 5 min walk from the hotel). Good for shopping also. All in all Caen is worth an overnight stop, but would suggest think twice about using this hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid street facing rooms.

Good location. Nice staff. Room basic but ok. Location good and car park right next door. Bit noisy at night so if I stayed there again I would ask for a room at the back as noise goes on well into the early hours. Liked best: Location Liked least: noise from the street

I have stayed at a number of Ibis hotels over the years and this has to be the worst. the rooms were not vert clean they were small and untidy. The location was ok however the location is poor and quite down market. The breakfast was good!
