“not up to usual Novotel standards”
Reviewed 13 February 2012

Stayed here for 1 saturday night. Nice big suites with huge panoramic view. A little far from town but walkable. Did not think it was a 'bad area' like other reviewers.
However, it was not a good experience. The suite was on a smoking floor - and did it reek of smoke - no-one asked whether we would like a non smoking room. The suite was not very clean - dusty and not vacuum cleaned, and the panoramic window was smeared and greasy. Worst of all was an old dog end of what looked like a joint in the sink. To be fair the receptionist cleaned it away when told about it, but not a great welcome. Also tepid water only - which given it was -10C outside was not good. Accor needs to make sure their standards are maintained.

I arrived last minute(almost midnight) and was able to get a room at a fair price. The room was amazing, very clean, comfy bead, after travelling for 16 hours on a motorcycle in the rain, this was the oasis I needed. Great coffee and breakfast, friendly service, desk clert was very patient with my terrible French.

My second stay at a Suite Novotel, and another pleasant night's sleep. The rooms feature good bathrooms, a dining table, kitchenette, separate toilet. All tastefully decorated.

Snack treats are available from the lobby refrigerator. The reception doubles as a bar and as such is not fully stocked or properly staffed as a bar, but you can get a drink.

The reception chap cheerfully helped translate pizza menus, amongst other tasks, and was of great assistance.

The location is nothing special but it is near the river, down the road from a few cafés, and about four blocks from a decent mall.

big comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff - easy parking, walking distance from town.
-no onsite restaurant or hot food -but continental b fast was good.
relatively easy to walk into town but i don't recommend walking along the road -go straight up into the town -(as was advised by staff)
room was very quiet (with windows closed as it is by a highway..) bed was clean and comfortable, tv new and worked fine , also coffee tea, and bites were in room ..
b-fast was more than enough and spacious and modern lobby and eating area.
I have over night in other hotels - ibis, campanile, this is much better standard -
and with a special -is not much more expensive..
also -using satnav- going south -if you are stopping over -toward Evreux is easy - no need to go back in the same direction ( if you were coming from Calais) there is an exit by the hotel.

The hotel is in a decent location, although not too close to the historical part of Rouen. Parking was good. My room has, in addition to the usual, a couch, safe, small refrigerator, sink, single-burner electric stove, micro-dishwasher, and microwave. No plates/pans/silverware, which makes me wonder why there's a dishwasher (BTW, the dishwasher is the smallest one I've ever seen, but it works).

Room Tip: Be sure to bring your own plasticware or plates & silverware.

Exactly what we needed at a very good price. Breakfast a bit pricey (and nothing special) but kid's breakfast is free. Kids also received a plywood dinosaur each to build which they loved.
Car parking was an additional 10 euro charge. Very good weekend deals. Bed not brilliantly comfy but OK.
