The hotel is walking distance to the chateau, restaurants and attractions, easy to find, secure storage for our bikes. We booked a standard room as the larger rooms were not available during our visit - it was pretty snug for two, though the bathroom was more spacious. The highlight of our stay were the front desk staff - friendly, efficient check-in and out, great suggestions for things to do in the area.

Room tip: Standard rooms were small for two - no room to sit other than on the bed. Book the larger rooms if available.

We stayed here for one night on our way back from the south of France. The hotel is conveniently placed on a quiet island in the middle of the Loire but a short distance on foot from the old centre of Saumur. There are fabulous views across the Loire to Saumur Castle and the old Town Hall and the Theatre. There is no restaurant in the hotel but several restaurants within walking distance in the main town. We had a superior double room on the third floor overlooking the Loire. The bedroom was very well appointed with a large comfortable bed and a well-sized bathroom. There is some parking in front of the hotel but this was full when we arrived and we left our car in a large car park belonging to the hotel around the corner. The staff were pleasant and friendly and the breakfast was plentiful. The only criticism that I would make is that when my wife asked for an extra teabag from reception after she had used the first one in the room she was told that she could be sold one. This seemed rather mean given that the room was quite an expensive one in the first place.

Room tip: Choose a superior room overlooking the Loire

We stayed here for two nights on our way back to the ferry. So glad we did. Service and environment were impeccable. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and the bed very comfy. Liquid soap was provided in the bathroom from squeeze bottles. The kettle was useful and we appreciated the safe. Drinking on the narrow terrace suspended almost over the river was amazing. Best of all was paying a little extra for that view of the whole river front with the castle looming above. We sat in the window and soaked it up. Ah, romance!
Access into town is about 10 minutes walk over the bridge via a river footpath. The path is well lit at night and we felt safe walking around. Highly recommended.

Room tip: Get the river/chateau view, you won't regret it.

We stayed here a couple of years ago, and wouldn't have considered anywhere else for this trip, great location and fantastic views from the river view rooms. We had a privilege room this time and it is very good with loads of room and a good view. No iron and board in the room but you can get one at reception?
Loads of parking available, and about 10 minutes stroll into the centre.
Be aware there is no restaurant in the hotel so you will have to go out for dinner, not a problem as there are a couple of restaurants nearby we have been in, or you can walk over the bridge into town.
The ones we have been to are the Chinese, La Muraille de Chine, and the Pierre Chaude which are both excellent, and there is also a nice boulangerie just around the corner.
