We booked a two night stay but were told on arrival that we'd have to change rooms for the second night. No apology whatsoever was offered by the very unpleasant male manager at Reception. In fact, he was abrupt, impatient and rude when I tried to discuss the matter.

The second room was far inferior at the back of the hotel in a grimy neglected patio 'garden' area. The door wouldn't lock and there was no air conditioning. The furniture was old and too big for the room. Both rooms were clean though.

The hotel is locked completely at night and you need codes etc to get into the back which is poorly lit and secluded. It feels unsafe.

They tried charging us for parking which we hadn't asked for! The manager threatened to call the police if we didn't pay.

There are many lovely places to stay in this beautiful town. This isn't one of them.

They split our 2 day stay into 2 different rooms. Not convenient as we had a lot of motorcycle gear with us. We ended up not unpacking and couldn't relax. They blamed Trip Advisor, Trip Advisor blamed the hotel.

Despite the Trip Advisor saying there was air conditioning, there was WASN'T in our second room. Very hot and uncomfortable.

MAID CAME INTO ROOM before 9am while we were in bed!!!!

WARNING! The Manager TOLD US to park in their parking area. They then tried charging us for it!!! They did not advise there was a charge, and didn't mention there was a parking tariff sheet in Reception. VERY SNEAKY!

All staff lovely, the MANAGER WAS/IS A DISGRACE. Rude - should not be working in the Service Industry!!!!!

Very nice apartment at the rear of the hotel. To be honest was a bit too far out of the town, a mile walk. But couldn't complain as staff were lovely and helpful. Room was clean and tidy and very spacious. Bonus was that we could park right outside our room.

To be honest we only stayed here as no other hotel could fit all our group. We were so delighted the other hotels were full!

We arrived late due to a train strike and the staff were so helpful. After a great nights sleep in a surprisingly pleasant room for the price we took the 15 minute walk to the port of La Rochelle. It's a lovely walk either by the sea (25 mins) or straight along the road.

The rooms were beautiful and spotless and the bathrooms were newly renovated and absolutely spotless! The breakfast was great and very reasonable too. The reception closes at night and there's access to your rooms using a keypad that unlocks the door so no problems at all.

I'd recommend this hotel to anyone. The location is great in quiet part of town and the staff could not possibly be more helpful during our 7 night stay. I look forward to returning someday.

Very pleasant small modern hotel, with private parking. 15 minute walk to town centre along sea front. Owner and staff very helpful and friendly. Spotlessly clean. Good breakfast. (Doors locked at night but no problem entering with key.) Excellent fish restaurant just along the Allee du Mail. Ideal for a short stay.
