I stayed solo for five nights in a double room. First I was given a room oriented toward the street. The room was very airy and there was a big sycamores tree in front of the window. But also a noise from the street. It seems that the noise from the street stops about 11 p.m. and it was quiet in the morning. It was not a typical night (the night before the holyday). So I changed the room because I was afraid that the noise might be early in the morning during workdays. The second room was not so airy. It was an attic with smaller window oriented toward half-skylight. But it was very quiet. Although during days it was about 30 celsius, nights were pretty cool so I did not have to turn on the fan (there is no AC). The rooms are very simple as is the whole hotel. The pillow on double bed are not standard (a kind of a single roller), so man can't use them as two pilllows or when sitting in the bed. There is no lift and the stairs are high. Also I missed a fridge in the room but it is a two star hotel with very good price. The price and the location are two main reason why man should choose this hoel. Few minutes walking from all atractions in the old town, the good position on the way to Atelier Cezanne and Terrain des Peintres, and twenty minutes walking with laguagge to the train station. A simple french breakfast can be consumed in the garden.

Places like Hotel Paul are dear to my heart. Yes it is basic but it is places like these that let us travel on a budget. It was clean, the staff helpful (if not dear), and convenient enough. Parking is 60 meters away in a public parking garage. The hot chocolate at breakfast was awesome because they warmed up some milk for me rather than just using hot water.
Though the street was a bit noisy, it had a substantial window that cut the traffic sound.

Stayed here as base to watch England. OK rooms, clean, bathroom bit naff but does job. Approx 10min walk to coach station. 40min coach drive away from marseille. Would not advise visiting marseille - awful place. Aix-en-Provence is nice town but bit boring. Hotel sound as a Base.

Yes this place is a 1 star hotel but the price reflects that. It was noisy at times being right on a Main Street however the location is great. You enter the old town less than a block away and there are plenty of cafe's bakeries, fresh fruit, groceries within minutes of here. The walk from the train station was an easy 15-20 minutes as you walk through the heart of the town. Room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the owners were easy to deal with. If you want to save money this is the place to stay.

Basic accommodation right out of the historical centre, which allows you to park your car nearby and get downtown straightway. But just basic facilities, including service. Anyway, good if on a budget and willing to stroll this wonderful city all day!
