Not too bad and not too good, just about right for a budget hotel - if you're driving and need a value hotel in Arles, this is a good option (or one of them :). There's nothing special about it, it will not provide you with a memorable stay, but it's ok on all the points that count.
- The building is old, the corridor had a bit of a musty "arome". Surprisingly, it has an tiny elevator. My room was small and basic, you can also see that in the pictures on the hotel web site, but it was clean. The mattress was not very comfortable, a bit hard and thin, but not so bad that I couldn't sleep. The air conditioner was good (it seemed relatively new and the room is small), wifi was ok. For some weird reason the AC remote is not in the room, I had to go and ask for it. The hotel itself is not air conditioned, only the rooms are, which seems pretty typical for 2 star hotels in France. The hotel seems to be owned or at least run by a family, and it seems that 9 PM is the end of their day - some reviews mentioned that they couldn't get hold of anyone at reception after 9PM (you are given an entrance code if you want to stay out later than 9 PM and have to tell them before 9 PM if you want breakfast the next morning).
Location: just outside the old city center, about 10 min. by foot, very close to the Rhone.
Parking: in the street, for free, but not guaranteed to be close to the hotel, so first drop the luggage off and then go hunt for a parking spot. In the evening it's a bit more difficult to find one, it might take 10-15 min of driving around and you'll have a 5-7 min. walk to the hotel.
Breakfast: available for a fee (~9 Euro) was ok, but nothing special.
So now the only question is why stay in Arles? Frankly, it might seem like heresy to tour the Provence and not stop in Arles, but I suggest to skip it. I did not find anything special about it, not the Roman ruins (better preserved in Nimes), not the cathedral, not the Reattu museum, and not the Wednesday market. Enjoy Les-Baux-de-Provence (Carrières de Lumières and the castle ruins) and move on. Just my $0.02.
